5.0 out of 5 stars Lets hear a chorus for a Chorus Line, March 29, 2009
By A. Cowdry (London, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A Chorus Line is your typical 1980's feel good musical, nothing special nothing amazing but good old hoofer work. The star of the show is very much the music and the most memorable song is One. This was one fo the films that opened the road for Mamma Mia, only this show has original songs not based around Abba's fine music. If you like that 1980's Fame/All that Jazz/Flashdance kind off movie/soundtrack then this will be a good addition for your collection. It's also a good album for your daughters at dance school to have in their collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars great soundtrack - too bad about the movie!, March 1, 2005
By Byron Kolln (the corner where Broadway meets Hollywood) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)
This soundtrack to the ill-conceived, poorly-received film version of A CHORUS LINE does have some merits. It does feature some great Broadway talents among it's cast (many of them in roles that they also played in the Broadway production). Alyson Reed is a spunky Cassie, though "Let Me Dance for You" hardly compares to the song it replaced ("The Music and the Mirror"). The emotional angst-ridden "At the Ballet" is in perfect hands with Vicki Frederick, Michelle Johnson and Pam Klinger. Vicki Frederick played both Sheila and Cassie in the Broadway run; Pam Klinger also played Maggie on Broadway. Yamil Borges (who would become a huge musical theatre star in Europe) is a terrific Diana Morales with her peppy rendition of "Nothing". Other theatre stars featured in the lineup include acclaimed choreographer Matt West and Nicole Fosse, talented daughter of Bob and Gwen Verdon. The soundtrack is invaluable purely because of the pedigree of it's cast.

1.0 out of 5 stars THE WORST!, June 19, 2009
By Tom George (Wash. DC) - See all my reviews
SO bad it is nearly forgotten. Hollywood turned it into a Michael Douglas movie at the peak of his career and completely and totaly ruined the show. It is just plain awful, nothing remotely close to what it ought to have been, or even close to the stage show. STAY AWAY!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent soundtrack
Many songs from the movies are just plain great. Particular standouts are "At the ballet", "I can do that" which are sung as musical solos, while "One" is a good chorus number... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Bleech!
Hollywood ruined it--the movie and the music. Get the Original Cast Recording instead. Not only is it cheaper, it's much better.
