Angela Grubbs, a Christian attorney working in litigation, is faced with the case of her life when she is haunted by a series of vivid dreams. The dreams take her to the turn of the nineteenth century where she is living another woman's life. Angela, who spent her childhood as a fundamentalist Baptist in the Deep South, is troubled by the realization that these dreams could be of a past life. Determined to find out if the dreams are real or if she's going crazy, she secretly enlists the help of her best friend, also an attorney, to document the details of her dreams the only way she knows how- as if they are preparing for trial. Along the way, they unexpectedly amass the best objective proof in existence today that reincarnation is real and that sometimes dreams don't come true, they already are.
