4.0 out of 5 stars Different than I thought it would be, but better, too
I enjoyed this book very much. I grew to like the MCs. The author developed their characters and their relationship well. I didn't like that the evil guy (can't think of his name) disappears without explanation, leaving a loose end (for a sequel, perhaps?), but all in all this was a very good read.

2.0 out of 5 stars The cover is more interesting then the actual book
I found this book very dull. There was nothing to the conflicts. For instance Anne (the cousin) was never really delt with. Another thing David "the Heir" could just runaway from his guardian and hide out with a sworn enemy that supposedly killed the other heir without any repercusions. I found this book very dull. There was nothing to the conflicts. For instance Anne (the cousin) was never really delt with. Another thing David "the Heir" could just runaway from his guardian and hide out with a sworn enemy that supposedly killed the other heir without any repercusions. They blamed that arrow thing on David and Sir John basically just says he's just a boy and I think you should be getting back home soon. I was expecting him to flip out, his heir has been gone for a day or so and he's been hiding out at some place where he's probably in danger. That was weird scene.

It just seems that this book didn't delve to much into the emotions of the book. Even Elizabeth came off as being fake as if she was acting out a scene rather than becoming the part. The couple didn't even seem to be that in love; there love didn't come through in this book. I didn't connect at all with this book and it left me feeling disappointed. This book had a lot of actions but there wasn't a lot of reactions. The author skipped over a lot of the reactions that would make the story flow better and make the reader feel satisfied that they've just read a great story.
