Yvonne Smith became concerned with victims of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ["PTSD"] in the late 1980s, and in 1990 [after 2 years of studies and 1000 hours of internship] received her certification from the California Hypnosis Motivation Institute [the only such accredited institution in the United States}. She immediately began to work with PTSD victims, assisting them and encouraging them to work through and cope with their PTSD. [Many of her subjects are referred to her by physicians and psychologists who believe Yvonne's expertise can benefit their patients.]
Observing that many of her subjects were describing a pattern of alien abduction and other close encounter experiences, in 1991 Yvonne founded CERO [Close Encounter Resource Organization] which provides personal attention and maintains active monthly support group meetings where PTSD victims share their thoughts and feelings about their unusual experiences.
While maintaining personal contact with her subjects, since 1991 Yvonne extensively co-lectured with Harvard's John Mack, M.D., Budd Hopkins, and David Jacobs, Ph.D., in the United States at M.I.T and several other universities...and also at many conferences [ as annually at the Roswell Celebration]. She annually participates in the Roswell UFO Festival [both acting as an m.c. and presenting multiple lectures] and conducting standing-room-only nightly experiencer sessions at the Laughlin, Nevada annual International UFO Congress.
Comfortable in front of cameras, Yvonne's 25-30 television appearances have included programs such as MSNBC, The Discovery Channel, The History Channel, Montel Williams Show, Encounters, Sightings, Rosanne Barr,The Joan Rivers Show, and The Leeza Show. Having her living room turned into a television "studio" for many hours has been a common occurrence. While lecturing as a repeat guest at a government sponsored conference in San Marino, Italy, she was interviewed on Italian television for broadcast both in Italy and other European countries. Many well known radio hosts (such as Art Bell, Paul Harvey, Dr. David Viscott, Jerry Pippen and Sweeps/Radio Ireland) have had Yvonne as their program guest.
In addition to her many t.v. interviews, Yvonne with her PTSD support participated in a Disney movie, Alien Encounters (1995).. She has frequently been consulted concerning hypnotherapy by directors and actors for movies and television programs in the works..
As the foremost female hypnotherapist in this field, Yvonne has had many opportunities to lecture with and be a panel-member with well known UFO researchers writers and speakers such as Budd Hopkins, Stanton Friedman, Maj. Jesse Marcel, Jr., David Jacobs, Paola Harris, Dr. John Mack, Robert Dean, Dr. John Miller, Steve Bassett, Linda Howe, and Michael Lindemann.
