We've been waiting, and here it is!,
This review is from: Chris Cagle (Audio CD)
It seems like millenia ago that Chris Cagle released his first CD, PLAY IT LOUD. Well, now here's another one--titled simply, CHRIS CAGLE.I think that'd a pretty good name for this CD, considering that it's Cagle at his best--combinging macho, masculine beats and rhythms wth sensitive lyrics that women will love, that voice that has everybody going wild, and the songwriting that places him above the rest. The songs aren't necessary unique in themselves--but Cagle's delivery is superb, making them stand out from anything else you've ever heard. "Chicks Dig It" provides a bit of humor, while "Night on the Country" brings in the masculine country atmosphere. "What a Beautiful Day"--Top 20 and rising!--is piano driven, and stands out from everything else on the album--which isn't a bad thing, believe me. The incredibly romantic "It Takes Two" and "Growin' Love" sort of bog the album down just slightly, but you'll probably like those tunes as well. "I Love It When She Does That" and "Just Love Me" provide the honesty, while "I'd Be Lying" sort of tells it like it is, in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way. "Everything" rocks on, with "Look At What I Found" telling how we find the best things...when we aren't looking for them. And the closing track, "Look At What I've Done," is the biggest surprise of all--a down-trodden song about leaving a woman and then finding she doesn't really give a damn after all. It's good, very good, but sort of ends the album on a sad note...which of course you can remedy by starting it up again and playing the first track! 'Kay, I've told you about the songs. You've probably heard some of Cagle on the radio--"My Love Goes On and On," "Laredo," "Country by the Grace of God," "I Breathe In, I Breathe Out," and then this album's first track, "What a Beautiful Day." You like him, right? Sure you do. 'Cause you're a country music fan, and you know that Chris Cagle represents the absolute best of where country's at today. So buy CHRIS CAGLE, and give it a listen--then, if you can, sing along! This is country as it was meant to sound, ladies and gentlemen. This is Chris Cagle.

favorite new artist,
This review is from: Chris Cagle (Audio CD)
Chris Cagle reminds me of Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw. He's got that old country sound mixed in with a contemporary sound. The songs are fun radio songs that sound the same througout most of the cd. My favorite songs are "What A Beautiful Day", "Chicks Dig It", "Look What I Found", "Growin' Love", and "Just Love Me." He wrote one song and then co-wrote most of the songs on this cd. I like this cd much better than his debut cd.

Chris Wears His Heart On His Sleeve,

Chris Cagle has done it again. He has produced another outstanding album. This release finds Chris in a more mellow mood than on his rocking debut (and Gold Selling)"Play It Loud". Here, Chris writes about love and love gone wrong with the most heartfelt lyrics and vocals imaginable. The songs "Look What I Have Done", "Just Love Me" and "Look What I have Found" are just heartbreaking. The album does contain a few of his trademark country southern rockin tunes as well. The song "Chicks Dig It" is a barn burner about the dumb things men do to impress the ladies. You will definitely have fun listening to it. This is just the second step in a career that is full of promise to become the next Country Superstar!

RAW TALENT NEVER DIES....... THIS IS IT!,
By S G (Savannah, Georgia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Chris Cagle (Audio CD)
This CD features a young versatile artist with a unique song writing ability plus he actually has the musical talent to express his life through his songs. Chris writes his own tunes. Some of my favorites: "Chicks Dig It" is about doing stupid things just to get a girls attention. My wife and I listened to it together and laughed at the stupid things I used to do to woo her. My favorite tune is "It takes two." It's really a perfect sound for the lyrics and underlines the up's and downs you undergo in relationships. The CD has it covered. It shows a serious side with tunes like "Just love Me" then there's a more lighthearted side. Overall, this is a great CD. This guy is going places! I believe he's going to get better and better each year and that the best is yet to come

Couldn't Pass it By......,

Ok, this is going to sound stupid to some, but it tells a story worth giving this CD an honest review. I met Chris Cagle while he was in his first year of being a country artist and was out promoting his debut CD. I had an unpleasant experience as a member of his fan club and even met Chris himself and found the experience very disappointing. The experience of meeting Chris made me feel this guy was just a jerk and wasn't worth the time out of my day to listen to his music, or the money it cost to buy it. Through the fan club and his message board my meeting Chris Cagle experience got back to him and her personally emailed me to tell me how important his fans are to him and that although he had no idea he had done anything to insult me or hurt my feelings, he was sorry and wanted to make sure I knew it. That didn't matter to me, I still wasn't buying into it. A year and a half later, the new CD (this one) comes out. As hurt and disappointed I was by the whole experience, the music was enough to make me want to purchase this CD because it is good. As much as I didn't want to buy it, as much as I wanted to ban anything Chris Cagle related, I couldn't because this CD is too good to ignore. There is not one bad song on it and I think it's much better than the first. To me, it's more mature and less cocky than the first. The music and lyrics seem to come from a different place than the first CD. Heck, I hated this guy for the longest time and have came through and bought his CD and recommend it, you know why? Because it's good, and no matter how you feel about something or someone, not matter what, you can't deny when something is good!

Supertalented musician grows complacent,
By Texas Brian "texasbrian" (Austin, TX United States) - See all my reviews

Chris Cagle is better than this. His debut CD was the best addition to my collection in years. Live, Chris is the BEST country performer I've seen this decade.Chris's strength is in those southern-fried jammin' country rock songs that dominated the first CD like "Play It Loud," "Country By The Grace Of God" and "My Love Goes On And On." Chris' other strength was writing catchy and innovative heartfelt ballads ("I Breathe In, I Breathe Out"). Sadly, there are only a smattering of tracks that meet that standard. "What A Beautiful Day," the first cut off the CD is a brilliant infectious story; the next track, "Chicks Dig It," is not only humorous, but is so rockin it almost made my CD player smokes. THIS is Chris at his best! Depressingly, the rest of the disc goes downhill from there. We fall into the country songwriting trap of puns ("I'd Be Lying" [... next to you]")and color-by-numbers arrangements. "It Takes Two" shines as a genuine take on a relationship, but the next track, "Growin' Love," compares romance to botany. Maybe I'm too big a Chris Cagle fan, but I expect more from Chris. Only one rocker on the entire CD when I know he is capable of more. I enjoy the disc, and I'm happy to have it, but "Play It Loud, Part 2" it's not. It's Chris' talent that keeps this from descending into Nashville generica.

Great Sophmore Album!,

This is a great album! There is not a lot of country rock songs like "My love goes on and on" and "Country by the Grace of God" from "Play it Loud" but there are some great ballads. This CD is very similar to Def Leppard's "Now" cd. Chris did a great job on this album and he is definetly revealing his romantic side to the world with this album. I would definetly recommend this album to everyone! Its worth way more than what you'll pay for it!

Chris Cagle's Self Titled CD is a Must Have!,
By Southern Belle (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Chris Cagle (Audio CD)
It is often said that a sophomore recording can either make or break an artist's career. Chris Cagle's self-titled CD will undoubtedly be a career-making recording for this extremely talented artist. There is remarkable growth in both Cagle's songwriting and his vocal performance presented in this new CD, and listeners will not be disappointed in this incredible new release. Fans who enjoyed the roll-down-the-windows-and-crank-it-up rockin' songs of Cagle's first CD, "Play It Loud", will be delighted by the new songs on "Chris Cagle". "Chicks Dig It" is an infectious tune that paints a comical picture of the crazy antics that young men will do to win over a girls' heart. "Night On the Country" is another contagious melody that carries the listener to memories of a hot summer night spent "on a blanket in a field of green" where the only music needed is the serenade of the nighttime crickets and the sultry evening breeze. "Everything" is an up-tempo delightful mix of heady desire, adrenaline, and playfulness. My personal favorite off of this recording is "I Love it When She Does That", which marvelously displays Cagle's vocal talent and his growth as a songwriter. This song will undoubtedly be a favorite with his female fans, whose hearts will skip a beat as he describes a woman who whispers that she loves him and "lets me in", then takes his heart as he winds up on his knees. There are several ballads on this CD that could easily become hit records. Some strong themes in these songs are: the search for love ("Look What I Found"), regrets of love gone wrong ("I'd Be Lying" and "Look What I've Done"), the simplicity of an uncomplicated life together "(It Takes Two") and the commitment that is crucial to withstand life's difficulties ("Growin' Love" and "What a Beautiful Day)". "Just Love Me", another one of my favorite cuts off of the recording, is amazing in its simplicity, further demonstrating Cagle's growth as a songwriter and vocalist. Chris Cagle's own unique brand of redneck roll-n-roll and tenderness is masterfully offered in his sophomore CD. His matchless energy and vitality are completely intoxicating, and I look forward to the next installment of his growth as an artist.

This Chick Digs It,
By
This review is from: Chris Cagle (Audio CD)
"Life is short so go on and live it, `cause the chicks dig it.""Chicks" and guys alike will "dig" Chris Cagle's new self titled album. While sophomore albums often make or break an artist, expectations were especially high for Cagle. His debut album, 'Play It Loud,' can easily be considered one of the best country albums released in years, and the question about whether he could duplicate that quality hung in the air. Cagle stood up to the challenge, and in his new musical offering successfully proves himself to be the real thing. Unlike 'Play It Loud,' 'Chris Cagle' is not heavy on the faster rocking country songs. Instead, it has many ballads that showcase Cagle's emotional side. "Look At What I Found" quickly wins the heart of women with its magical story of finding that one true love, while "Just Love Me" is a nod to the male expectations in relationships. The most noteworthy ballad of the album is the final track, "Look At What I've Done." The use of nothing but strings makes its story more heart wrenching, and catches the attention of the listener. Cagle's live performances rest heavily, though, on his brand of country-rock. He delivers three powerful punches with "Chicks Dig It," "Everything" and "Night on the Country." All leave the listener jamming to them self like no one is watching and practically make the CD player smoke. There is no question on the surface that Cagle has real talent, but look closer and find that he wrote or co-wrote nine of the eleven songs on the album. Included in the list is the first single, "What A Beautiful Day," that has already entered the top 10 on the Radio and Records charts. This guy is the real thing. This is not an album to be skipped. Pick it up, pop it in the player and don't expect it to be coming back out any time soon.
