Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 3-5?Two attractive, easy-to-read biographies. In Bonnie Blair, the life of the tenacious and modest young woman who captured the hearts of the American public during the Lillehammer Olympics is presented in six short chapters. Simple, interesting sentences clearly describe her efforts and the assistance and support she received from key people in her skating life. Morgan provides an overview of the development of the basketball superstar, his successes and problems, and plenty of on-court play-by-play, written in a sometimes choppy style. Nonetheless, the highs and lows of Mullin's life permit readers to identify with him on a human level. Both books have good quality, full-color and black-and-white photographs, including many action shots, and appealing covers. Charts of each athlete's career highlights and honors are appended.?Janice C. Hayes, Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreeboro

More About the Author

Terri Morgan has been a freelance writer and journalist for more than 30 years. Her work has appeared in dozens of different newspapers and magazines, and on numerous websites. The author of four sports biographies for young adults, she is also the co-author of two photography books and two sports biographies. Playing the Genetic Lottery, is her first novel. When not writing, Terri loves to read, surf, play with her dog, photograph people, landscapes and wildlife, and hang out at the library. "Being such an avid reader, it was only natural for me to become a writer when I grew up."
