5.0 out of 5 stars unusual anarcho punk, April 9, 2005
This review is from: Christ the Album (Audio CD)
If you're looking for a normal sort of pistols style anarcho punk band, this isn't what you'll find... This is what I would call a punk concept album, pretty much each track has a very bizzare and political intro, and some don't even have singing... But don't just burn this album from a friend, because the lyrics are really what makes this band awsome, their lyrics are very witty, angry, and ingenious... and just plain crass... If this is your first crass cd, you might also want to look into geting The Feeding of 5000, which has less intros and more punk.

5.0 out of 5 stars What happened?, July 13, 2000
This review is from: Christ the Album (Audio CD)
I used to listen to this recording over and over while on guard duty in the Army, and the LSD only made it more profound. I made a tape of it so I could reseal the album (w/poster and booklet) to pass on to my children. A must have for anybody who has a brain, or is trying to harvest one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christ the Review, March 2, 2004

This review is from: Christ the Album (Audio CD)
Crass is one of the most famous and controversial figures in anarcho-punk. Christ the Album shows why. A half studio album and half live album, this shows how chaotic Crass can be. Most of the songs begin with audio samplings from certain places and automatically kick into the song without much break.

The live disc is genius. Consisting of their most popular and infamous songs and excellent B-Sides, this shows Crass's incredible live performances.

With a great talent towards satire and knowledge, this album is one of punk's most definative releases.

4.0 out of 5 stars Anarchy in the U.K., March 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Christ the Album (Audio CD)
I like the Crass and have both Stations and the feeding of the 5000.
The crass are really pure anarchists and their lyrics tell the truth about
the corrupt society we all live in.
To any Crass fan and Anarchist : Buy this and you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ahead of their Time, November 3, 2007
This review is from: Christ the Album (Audio CD)
Christ the Album is an abrasive, bit cacophony, but powerfully politically charged album, which attacks all forms of oppression, from the status quo family social norms (reality whitewash, mother love) to again the threat and control of war and government(Have a nice day). This album is a bit different from their others in that it starts off the songs with sound clips from media sources. The the clips and the ideas they embody is what the song will critique. If your looking for highly catchy pop-punk or music which resembles bands such as the clash or sex pistols then this album is not for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars True Punk, September 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Christ the Album (Audio CD)
Crass are the embodiment of what punk could have been. Peaceful, anarchistic, atheistic. Their music is intelligent, perfect punk. A real band that still makes a difference. If you are interested in moving beyond the Sex Pistols or other stuff masquerading as music, this is your band. All in all, this is an album which is one of the highlights of their career, and needs to be listened to by you. --DaveX--

5.0 out of 5 stars punks not dead, April 8, 2003

I will be very direct . I have been listening to punk since 1976 when I bought my first Ramones album. I am a big fan of all kinds of music and punk was definitely the top for me. This LP /cd captures the feel of punk more than any other recording I have ever heard. Especially the live portions SUPERB. Like most Crass recordings it is challenging and thought provoking can't recommend it highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Same old stuff you've heard it all before.., November 3, 2000
By
This review is from: Christ the Album (Audio CD)
What can I say I love this CD.. Some people may say Crass has no talent.. Well I say they do.. Besides what is talent? Britney Spears? Isn't that just another statement like "that isn't NORMAL" I mean come on every form of art is beautiful (well I guess that means rap too.. damn..) I think that Crass has some of the most intelligent, wonderful, mind opening lyrics I've ever heard. The music's loud and there isn't much beat and some may say Steve Ignorant can't sing. Well I love this CD for all it's about. My favorite songs vary from time to time depending on my mood but right now I'd say they are Have a Nice Day, Major General Despair, I KNOW THERE IS LOVE, Nagasaki Nightmare.. and a few others. I suggest Crass if you're into old punk music and if you're into Dead Kennedys or Subhumans, and if you aren't - listen to them too! I wasn't sure about Crass when I first heard them - and Im sure you will to when you first listen to them - but this CD is one of my all time favorites.. Buy it and give Crass a chance..

5.0 out of 5 stars Not you usual clash and sex pistols stuff, August 5, 2005
By
This review is from: Christ the Album (Audio CD)
If you can remember the so called "Punk era" or have any knowledge of the time, the sex pistols, viv westwood, the roxy and the clash and think thats what punk was all about then this is not the album for you. Crass were one of if not thee best anarcho punk band the world will ever see. This is by far not their best pice of work, it dose not have the compelling lyrics of Penis Envy and nor the classic riffs of feeding of the 5000. But it is deffently not a let down. I think the highlight of this double album is the second live CD, for any Crass far this is a must hear, The energy off a crass gig mixed with the usual Crass soundbytes make this an unmissable album. especily when we hear the screatching of Eve libertine half way through the set "hello hero, hero hello..."
