Greg Wilbur's music is a haunting and stirring synthesis of the old and the new. These psalms ring with the resonances of Bach, Tallis, Scotland, Ireland, and Geneva, blended artfully with Greg's careful and unique aesthetic.

Each tune is carefully crafted to appropriately carry and communicate the ideas of each psalm. These are wonderful tunes to listen to, but even more wonderful to sing. These were composed and are intended as congregational psalms. Still, the translation from congregation to compact disc is eloquent and very fulfilling. If you don't find yourself singing along, I wouldn't be surprised if the very stones begin to cry out.

These are excellent renditions and I'll hopefully be introducing my congregation to several of them, but there is a major problem in the recording levels - at least the version released on iTunes (Update: listened to the Amazon version, and it's the same there too). It seems like the gain was turned up way too high (particularly in the congregational portions, but it happens throughout the album). This results in really distracting sound breakup throughout the album.

Songwise, this is a solid 5 star album, but the version I bought is - from sheerly a technical perspective - a 2-star. Hopefully a remastered (or fixed) version will be released soon!

Our congregation will gradually learn to sing many of these. They phrase the Psalms very memorably. Church music leaders should definitely try these.

This is wonderful music, both for corporate worship and private meditation. Abundantly singable yet richly unique, Mr. Wilbur's music stands apart from other worship music Ive encountered. It is heartening to find a musician who both relishes the rich traditions of hymnody and simultaneously writes in a manner that is relevant and appealing for today's church. I've pretty much had this on auto repeat since I got it, and already find myself hoping for a third collection to complement Greg Wilbur's wonderful first two CDs!

This cd is filled with rich music that we love to sing along to. I like to listen in the car and enjoy learning the harmony parts, and my kids enjoy listening too. These are the songs I want them to hear, and this is the kind of thing I want them to remember about their childhood.
