This review is from: The Christian & the Bible (Ten Basic Steps Toward Christian Maturity) (Kindle Edition)
This book will answer more questions than you are aware you have at this moment. It is the solution to that old saying, "You don't know what you don't know!" Let me reflect back on how I came to read this book...
Forty years ago this nation was ending the Viet Nam non-War. People across this land were confused by the politics of this conflict, the sacrifices being made by our drafted soldiers, and the lack of rallying support for their service. Liberals were declaring "God is Dead" and morals were considered "old-fashioned." Our withdrawal from Viet Nam in 1974 was a disaster to our Americam pride and self-respect. Prayer and all things religious were being removed from our schools and families and/or marriages were falling apart at an astounding increase. In other words, we were a foolish generation. My first child was born into this dismal world and one day I knew she would ask me "who or what is God?" I wanted to be able to answer that question honestly and confidently but only knew rote answers. After investigating many religions and philosophies, I came upon this study series (Ten Basic Steps to Chrisitan Maturity) for I found the Judeo/Christian Bible very, very difficult to read and understand. Bill Bright's clarity of explanation and selection of scripture verses that are not taken out of context began to expose all that I did not know and helped me to begin investigating what I should know. The Bible is not a book, it's a library... And it does not simply tell us "Don't do This or That!" like so many religions in the world... It tells us "It is Done!" If you want to know truthful answers and are embarrassed to be carrying a Bible around with you, I STRONGLY recommend purchasing the Kindle edition of Bill Bright's book and a free Bible offered by Kindle. Then wherever you go you'll be able to use that spare-waiting-room-ten-minutes to become informed and wiser than you were eleven minutes ago. I've been learning for forty years now and I deeply regret that I didn't start learning fifty years ago. Thank you Bill Bright!! |
