An Outstanding Resource For Christian Coaches,
By Linda R. Stoll, M.S., CLC, BCPC (Salt Point, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Christian Coaching: Helping Others Turn Potential into Reality (Hardcover)
Collins' book is an outstanding resource for the Christian coach - and for anyone else who works closely with people. His clear writing style and enthusiastic approach to coaching make this volume hard to put down. If you want to know more about coaching, or are considering being coached or becoming a coach, this is a "must read." The appendices at the end of the book are a great resource for coaches - these forms, tools, and questionnaires are worth the cost of the book alone! This book provides a long-awaited and much-needed introduction of the field of coaching to the Christian community. It is sure to have great impact!

Good Guide to Christian Coaching,
This review is from: Christian Coaching: Helping Others Turn Potential into Reality (Hardcover)
Although the work is lengthy and a little wordy (or this could reflect my relatively short attention span with 2 small ones at home), this is a very important guide to Christian coaching. Like Dr. Collins, I was a mental health professional (a psychiatrist) before I became a coach and Dr. Collins does a good job of differentiating the two.
He does a very nice job of explaining to the uninitiated what Christian coaching is and how it can help. Recommended reading for those considering utilizing Christian coaching or becoming a Christian coach.

Excellent Overview of Christian Coaching!,

If you're looking for an overview of Christian coaching, as I was, look no further. Collins here provides an excellent treatment of the subject. He defines Christian coaching, offers its benefits, and then distinguishes between its many varieties.
Collins has long been a reliable name in the field of Christian counseling. Now he presents a volume describing the broader field of Christian coaching. This book is well-worth the investment of your time AND money!

Will recommend this book to all my clients!,

Being a Christian coach I found this book reflective of the great opportunity that coaching provides. The "return on investment" for most client -- holistically -- is beyond anything we can comprehend! I will be giving this book to all of my clients! It also provides foundational information that can be applied to whatever opportunities and challenges you are facing -- business, growth, balenace, financial, and others. It also applies if you're a CEO of a billion dollar corporation or a stay-at-home mom (which often has a more difficult job than the CEO). Thanks Gary for writing such a dynamic book.

As president and founder of PCCCA, I have had the opportunity to read and review many books on the subject of Christian Life Coaching.
This book is by far one of the best resources. If this is your area of interest, I highly recommend it. Sincerely, Leelo-Dianne Bush, PhD.

Great Resource!,

This review is from: Christian Coaching: Helping Others Turn Potential into Reality (Hardcover)
This book was the main text for my Christian Life Coaching course and was a great read! It explains lots of different niches within Christian coaching in ways that are simple to understand.
At times, I felt like I just wanted to "get to the meat" of the book, but I am always that way and don't like a lot of fluff. Collins gives a good background of coaching, but it just wasn't something I cared much about! Give me the tools to help someone right away! :o) If you are considering becoming a Christian Coach, this is a MUST READ book!

Collins wrote the textbook used by many seminaries to teach Christian counseling. Collins here applies his wisdom to the field of Christian coaching. (He explains the difference well)
Coaching is a good leadership development tool as well as a tool for helping people to escape hurts and hang-ups. It is different from counseling in that it does not require the coach to be the all-wise counselor, and it helps the coached person to see on their own what steps need to be taken. (Similar to Carl Rogers) Coaching is a useful tool for a church or group to help each other to grow.

A real nuts-and-bolts book on the fundamentals of Christian coaching. It is the primary textbook in my current coaching class. Using the class and this book is enough to get me going in the right direction, and to start building a coaching clientele; however, these alone will not sustain my practice, and I know that. I will most likely take another coaching course with more comprehensive materials, but all Christian coaching schools that I know of use this book, and it's easy to see why. I would definitely recommend it for those interested in getting an overview of the "why" and "how" of coaching.

This is a keystone book for practical Christian coaching. Dr. Collins provides great examples from his personal story, as well as the experience of many other coaches. He includes a model of coaching which establishes a foundation for academic discussion. A pleasant surprise is the many bibliographical references which provided treasured information for my research on this topic.
