I love these books. They are informative and have lots of educational material but written in a way that grabs the attention of the youngest reader. My son is 7 and every day he reads a story out of the book and every day is coming to me afterwards telling me about another insect and what they do. How cool is that?! Like yesterday, he came over and started telling me why bees don't like moths- hmmm something I never knew before...I would recommend these books for any age group not just the grade listed.

This is a great reader, but I would caution those who've never seen it in person. It's very wordy, meaning there are a lot of words on the page. I may have to go back and get the first book and work our way up to this book.

these books are the perfect nature guides for children. they made make wonderful easy readers as well for those who are beginning to learn to read. very smart books with lovely illustrations.

The 3 set of Nature Readers are not "readers" if that is what you are looking for. This 163 page book is written for the average 8 year old in my opinion. It reads easier than a text book, but is a long continuous information about animals. There are large headers throughout when you talk about a new animal that may occur at the top or middle of the page. I can't see my child picking it up to just read....but it is well written and may be what someone is looking for.
