Beth Braunecker Dobrozsi
In the old days, as evidenced in the song, the Christmas season was not one long build-up beginning on Thanksgiving and ending in a frenzied one-day celebration on Christmas Day. The Advent season was a period of waiting and preparation for the Christmas season, which began on the Eve of Christmas and was celebrated through Epiphany, traditionally on January 6th.
Since Fr. Stockert made public his findings, there has been debate as to the historical accuracy of the origin, some attributing it to legend. Others have found the account basically accurate and probable. Regardless of "hard evidence", the song remains a useful, creative and fun tool for Christian instruction. In a world overly focused on giving and receiving presents of material value, resurrect the true meaning of this sacred season, and sing "The Twelve Days of Christmas" to pass on the faith to the next generation.

My 11 year old loved this book,
This review is from: The Christian Origin of the Twelve Days of Christmas: A Children's Activity Book (Paperback)
I was thinking that this activity book was for the younger set, so was surprised when my pre-teen daughter got all excited and took my book! She immediately set to work coloring it. Really, the presentation of the information is clear and well written, and the drawings are lovely. A very artistic way to teach the meaning of the song.

This is such a great book that I've ordered extra copies for my family and friends! I've listened to the song "My True Love" at Christmas time for years and thought it represented more how materialistic the holiday has become rather than the rich history it speaks of. The book has activities and a message for all ages! Don't pass this up!

I have enjoyed this book so much that I've ordered extra copies to share with family and friends! The song 'My True Love', that we've heard for years, has such a deep meaning and such a beautiful story, it gives a person a renewed perspective each time you hear the song. This is a wonderful book for young children as well as older kids. The games and poster are great for all ages. Highly recommended!!
