Simplistic Symbols,

As a clergy woman, I am always looking for good resources to hand to a worship team or a creative task force. I was hoping to find something with the same creativity as Jill Liddell's "The Patchwork Pilgrimage" and Nancy Chinn's "Spaces for the Spirit," but with more direction for inexperienced groups. Trust me: this is not it! Yes, it has perfectly reasonable Christian symbols and they are configured in such a way that you can easily adjust size and use them as templates for felt banners or other such projects, but there is nothing unusual and nothing exciting. Anyone with modest talents and a search engine could have found this material in clip art sites or similar places.
Unless you are working with children or want totally conventional banners or art work (something that looks just like the banner of the church down the street--), skip this book. My thought is that it would be better to inspire groups with exceptional art and let them make mistakes than to limit them to pedantic design. |
