5.0 out of 5 stars If you're doing it all yourself, this is the book to buy!
I first got this book because of the great lists I found. Then I started to read it in depth and I'm so glad I got it! This gives all kinds of tips and hints and ideas. The only thing I didn't like was that sometimes it was repetitive -- from page to page or worksheet to worksheet. 3.0 out of 5 stars Dated & Lacking
This book SEEMED like it would be helpful, but except for *some* info on premarital counseling, it really came very close to being like any other *secular* wedding book. Some of the advice is really dated, too.

I first got this book because of the great lists I found. Then I started to read it in depth and I'm so glad I got it! This gives all kinds of tips and hints and ideas. The only thing I didn't like was that sometimes it was repetitive -- from page to page or worksheet to worksheet. But the lists of music, kinds of services and seating plan ideas were the best I've seen. And the BEST of all was the chapter on wedding coordinator -- I knew I couldn't pay someone to do this, but it gave me all the duties so that I could do it or have others help me with this job. I have looked and looked elsewhere and nothing compares to all the information here. And it gives very practical money saving ideas -- no tips to save money and "only" spend $1500. These ideas **really** save money. I haven't even thought about buying another book to help plan my wedding -- this is the ONLY one you'll need.

Our church has used this book as wedding guide & planner for 5 years. Book is all-inclusive, full of easy charts, very helpful suggestions & guidelines. We have never found it lacking in any area. Our one copy is now getting worn; I am ordering another copy now. Terry Osborne, Wedding Consultant for Riverview Church of the King Bullhead City, AZ

I used this wedding planner in 1996 when my husband and I were married. It is full of resources that you might not think to use. I lost my copy in one of our moves and have returned to get a copy for reference...I highly recommend this book to any bride-to-be. It will be the best $17 you spend for your wedding.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have wedding planner!, August 17, 2001

I used this book 3 years ago when I was married and recently passed it along to my sister-in-law to be. It is an invaluable resource and a very **different** resource. It isn't a book about different wedding "ideas" ("how to arrange the tablecloths", "how to deal with new in-laws", etc.) It is a **GO-TO** resource on the actual planning of the ceremony/celebration. It gives template sheets that I found helpful to simply xerox and put in a 3-ring binder and create my own workbook. (The best part is the book is still blank for my sister-in-law now!) Your money will be well spent here.

My cousin bought this book for me since she knew I was not going to hire a wedding coordinator. I use it for all of my wedding needs. It gives lots of examples but lets you be creative also. I love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely different from the others, October 31, 2007
I've used this planner on my wedding and also other weddings. I like that it lists all the different services. My church is non-denominational so I was able to pick and choose the parts I liked. They had everything from Baptist, to Lutheran, to Catholic. They had some of the best vows listed that I've seen (or heard) lately.

Drawbacks: very dated material. They actually recommend that you go with audio tapes due to the higher quality of recording. I got a laugh out of this. And obviously their recommendations on music is quite dated too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Do It Yourself Planner, November 13, 2009
I had two months to plan my own wedding and was looking at the library for a book that would encourage and clearly explain how this could be done. Also, I was working with less than 1,000 dollars for the whole thing. With no previous wedding planning experience, I needed a book that would explain every angle of the wedding. I first passed up this book because it does not have colored pictures and is very homely looking. The second trip to the library I picked it up and it never left my side since. Whether you're planning your own wedding or wanting to help someone with theirs, this book covers so many aspects of a wedding, gives reminder lists I found very helpful, and encourages you all along you can make and have your wedding at any price you choose.

I had chosen my own order of the processional, service, and order everyone would walk out. This book lays out each part of the ceremony, how each denomination usually does it, and lets you pick and choose if you so desire. There are sample vows and promises for the couple and suggestions for if you would like to include the people who are watching.

I'm now buying this book and would advertise it to anyone wanting a clear guideline to putting together their own wedding.

[...], googled to find lists of wedding pictures for my photographer to take, and ended up with a wedding under 1000.00 dollars that I organized and had family and friends ready to help with. For all those helping I was able to give them a schedule and used tips from this book to keep everyone organized. No professionals were used, just a very talented set of networked friends who were excited to do what they could to help.

Many people told me I couldnt plan a wedding in two months and I couldn't plan it myself - but through this book and a couple others, I ended up with a wedding just how I had hoped. As I went through each chapter I shared with the soon to be groom what I liked and in the end we really felt like we had a ceremony that fit well with us and the message we were hoping to get across to others.

It's a large task, but can be done! Pray much, organize much, and find a few faithful friends who only wish for your wedding to be the best they can possibly make it!

Just remember - if you need extra advice, seek someone who has already planned and had a wedding like you are wanting and find out how they cut corners. Those people are usually your biggest cheerleaders to see you succeed the same!
