cousnvinnie@webtv.net,
This review is from: Christianity in Crisis Audiobook (Audio Cassette)
I GAVE MY LIFE TO JESUS CHRIST IN 1992. AT THAT TIME, I WAS SO GREEN IN THE WAY OF KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM. I HAD LIVED LIFE AS A DOPE FIEND AND AN ALCOHOLIC. NOW, AS A BABY CHRISTIAN I WAS WILLING TO BELIEVE ANYTHING I HEARD CONCERNING JESUS....INCLUDING KENNETH COPELAND AND FRED PRICE. WHILE NOT EVERYTHING THESE TEACHERS SAY IS FALSE, A MAJORITY OF WHAT THEY DO TEACH IS LACED WITH A REAL EAR TICKLING LIE. THIS BOOK REVEALED TO ME HOW THESE TEACHERS MANPULATE THE SOVEREIGN WORD OF THE LIVING GOD TO MAKE THE BELIEVER THINK THAT WE ARE GOD.....THAT GOD IS OUR SERVANT....THAT ANYTHING WE ASK FOR IN JESUS'S NAME WE MUST HAVE BECAUSE "GOD IS BOUND BY HIS WORD". THE WHOLE "NAME IT AND CLAIM IT" BELIEF SYSTEM TAKES GOD'S SOVEREIGN AUTHORITY AND PLACES IT IN THE HANDS OF SELFISH AND GREEDY PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY ACTUALLY DESERVE MORE THAN WHAT GOD HAS ALREADY GIVEN TO THEM.....ETERNAL LIFE. I AM GRATEFUL TO HANK AND THIS BOOK BECAUSE I ALMOST LEFT THE CHURCH BECAUSE OF THOSE WHO TOLD ME THAT I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH FAITH. IF THE NAME IT AND CLAIM IT TEACHINGS WERE TRUTH,WE WOULD NEVER GET SICK, WE WOULD ALWAYS BE RICH, AND WE WOULD NEVER DIE. MY ONLY CRITISISM OF THIS BOOK IS THAT IT SEEMS THAT HANK IS A LITTLE BIT AROGANT IN THE WAY HE REVEALS THE LIES. I LOVE YA' HANK! BUT I THINK YOU WILL REACH MORE OF THE MISLED IF YOU HAVE MORE LOVE IN YOUR REBUKES. A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK OF HANK AS AROGANT AND ARGUMENTATIVE BUT HE HAS A STRONG GRASP OF THE WORD AND UNDERSTANDS THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD. I LISTEN TO HIS RADIO PROGRAM MOST EVERYDAY AND I CAN SEE WHY HE IS CONTROVERSIAL. I CHALLENGE ALL TO LISTEN TO HANK'S RADIO SHOW FOR 30 DAYS. HE CAN LEAD YOU THROUGH THE SCRIPTURES TRUTHFULLY. BY THE WAY, HE IS A CHARASMATIC WHO BELIEVES IN SUPERNATURAL GIFTS. BUT HE DOES HOWEVER BELIEVE WE SHOULD FOCUS ON THE MASTER.....NOT ON WHAT IS ON THE MASTER'S TABLE.

An excellent follow-up to the book,

After reading the book and finding some of the quotes almost unbelievable, I had to get the audio book and hear it for myself. I did, and recommend to anyone who reads/listens to this work, check out the assertions in light of Scripture. As a former "health & wealth gospel" believer, I was very dismayed that I had fallen for such a false doctrine and fell forward (not backward) in repentance. Furthermore, as a result of having the blinders removed, I have launched into an inductive study of the Bible. Christianity in Crisis is truly liberating.

This is an incredible, eye-opening exposé of a movement that is trans-denominational and is devouring Christians with the rapidity of a wildfire. Ironically, one of the reviewers condemns it as saying it is limiting the Holy Spirit, but this is simply not true. Hanegraaff himself is a Charismatic so he hardly wants to do that. Instead, it's a movement that puts words in Holy Spirit's mouth, claiming He has revealed things to them that are CLEARLY against the Bible. This is not a Charismatic/non-Charismatic issue at all. It is spreading into so many churches that you owe it to yourself to find out about it. In the audio book, you can actually HEAR these teachers making statements like, "The greatest failure in the Bible is God" (Kenneth Copeland) and Paul Crouch's threat against anyone who demands an adherence to sound doctrine (who he calls "heretic hunters"), "I think they're damned and on their way to hell; and I don't think there's any redemption for them." And of course, who could ever forget Hinn's rewrite of Job 1:21, "You know what? We've said this a million times and it's not even scriptural -- all because of Job: 'The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord'. I have news for you: that is not Bible, that's not Bible. The Lord giveth and NEVER taketh away." Guess God was wrong when He inspired the writer to say, "In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing" in the very next verse. When you listen to the first tape, your jaw will fall open at what is being taught out there in TV land and on the radio...and you'll be even more amazed at how many people are gobbling it up (lots of itching ears, huh? 2 Timothy 4:3). One of the best things you can do for yourself is to get this audiobook!

RHEMA GRADUATE AGREES WITH HANNEGRAFF,
By A Customer
This review is from: Christianity in Crisis (Hardcover)
AS A GRADUATE OF HAGIN'S SCHOOL I AM PERHAPS WELL QUALIFIED TO WRITE A REVIEW. SADLY, THE THEOLOGICAL INFORMATION HEREIN IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE. I WAS A FAITH TEACHER FOR SEVERAL YEARS BEFORE I REALIZED THAT I WAS DECIEVED AND BEING DECIEVED. AS A RESULT I WAS DECIEVING OTHERS. FAITH THEOLOGY NEARLY RUINED MY LIFE. TO ME HAGIN WAS GOD AND THUS INFALLIBLE. THANK GOD FOR MEN OF GOD SUCH AS HANK AND DAVE HUNT WHO DARED TO TELL THE TRUTH DESPITE THE ENORMOUS PERSECUTION THAT RESULTS FROM IT. I AM CURRENTLY TRAVELING AND SPEAKING ON THIS SUBJECT AS WELL AS WRITING 5 BOOKS ON THE SUBJECT MYSELF. MY NAME IS MIKE DYAL AND I GRADUATED FROM RHEMA IN 1988. THE LEGALISM AND GNOSTICISM I LEARNED THERE TOOK ME FROM A YOUNG MAN WHO LOVED JESUS AND JUST WANTED TO WIN SOULS TO A MONSTER WHO THOUGHT OF HIMSELF AS GOD11 E MAIL IS JYAM@WEBTV.NET. CONTACT ME FOR MORE DIALOUGE AND INFO. I WILL GLADLY SHARE MY RHEMA FILES WITH YOU. BY THE WAY, WHY DOES HAGIN'S GOD NEED FAITH????????

EXCELLENT TRUTH~~PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW OF APOSTATES,
By A Customer
This review is from: Christianity in Crisis Audiobook (Audio Cassette)
I would urge anyone who disagrees with Hank Hanegraaff to actually get their bible out and READ IT! So much of what the people in these Faith Movements say are complete blaspheme, apostasy & unbiblical. Hank is only doing what God called every Christian to do. Titus 1:11 says "They must be silenced, because they are ruining whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach--and that for the sake of dishonest gain." This was a great book and so very important to Christianity today where so much false doctrine is going around!

Powerful counterattack against heretic beliefs,
By Chino Fernandez "techtor" (Quezon CIty, Philippines) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Christianity in Crisis Audiobook (Audio Cassette)
I consider this a counterattack because the false beliefs described in this book are themselves an undeclared attack on core Christian truth. The prosperity belief, "name it and claim it", faith in faith, the healing gospel, all these are exposed of their heretical nature because they oppose many key teachings.Hanegraaff tackles the Word of Faith beliefs espoused by Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, Fred Price, Marilyn Hickey, Benny Hinn, and many others, all of which owe their source of ideas from EW Kenyon, though this may never be admitted. He gives extensive explanations of how Word-Faith theology and practices contradict orthodox Christian beliefs, citing bone-jarring quotes from these preachers and His organization of the book's content is very studious, using acronyms to organize information, like ABCDE, FLAWS, FAITH, and so on. Aside from studying the errors, he re-explains basic Christian beliefs. It is not that easy to follow as promised, however, and though replete with information, it gets a bit difficult to absorb the volume of it. He also inserts anecdotes to illustrate a point, but sometimes draggingly. But what you get, you get it correctly, and his doctrinal explanations are correct. Word-Faith adherents may be shaken in their boots because of this book, but they should put aside their reactions and study this book. And if you are not, this book will greatly help if you want to remain out of error.

Christian layperson finds this book very helpful.,

I have always felt, at a "gut level," that something was wrong with what I heard on TV of the extreme faith teachers. This book helped me to clearly understand the problems. I do not think that we our to "nit pick" our fellow believers over minor differences in our understanding of scripture. However, extreme faith teachers promote MAJOR deviations from the historic Christian faith, even to the point of denying the Trinity - which is clearly revealed in scripture and is the heart of our faith. "Christianity in Crisis" helped me to see - from the scriptures and from the faith teachers' own statements - why these teachers are wrong. It also helped me to understand sound methods of Biblical interpretation that would have prevented these errors. I've read the book and listened to the tapes, both of which were great. The book of course is more comprehensive, but on the tapes you can actually HEAR for yourself the faith teachers making outrageous statements. Even my kids were fascinated by the tapes. Isn't it great to live in a "free country" in which you can get the facts on anything you like?! Also, thanks Amazon for making available to us a wide variety of interesting books!

Excellent, what every Christian should know.,

This review is from: Christianity in Crisis Audiobook (Audio Cassette)
I haven't read the book, but I've listened to the audio book and I can hear false doctrine from the false teachers themselves. I got to say that a lot of what these false teachers are saying shocked me. Such clear heresy is presented in this excellent presentation that it's hard to believe that people are buying this stuff from people like Benny Hin, Fred Price, Kenneth Copeland, and many others. So I definately support this, it's a must buy.

sickening as to what is being spewed from peoples mouth,
This review is from: Christianity in Crisis (Hardcover)
Some scripture to think about when following along with some of these "faith" ministers.
Mat7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Mat7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. If what these people named in this book believe, it is truly sad that they can go on decieving people.

A good place to start,
By
This review is from: Christianity in Crisis (Hardcover)
This book started me on a spiritual journey out of the wilderness of esoteric Christianity and into the arms of reason. Key to this was Hanegraaff pointing out that there was a signficant difference between the Bible's "Faith is the substance..." and Kenneth Copeland's distinctive "Faith is A substance..." The documentation is good.
If you are satisfied in believing in miracles you've never seen, you can skip this book. If you want the truth, the REAL truth, THE truth, regardless of the consequences, then this book is a good place to start. I mention this book and more on this topic on this page: [...] |
