This book is AWSOME!,
By Nina Feldman (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Christianity Exposed (Paperback)
Clearly Sherly and the other reviewer "A Reader" are fundamental Christians, especially Sherly who wrote a book which is full of conjecture.I have read Mr. Tulbure's book TWO times, after a friend sent me one for my birthday. I am a Messianic Jewess, born to a strict Orthodox family as well. After reading "Christianity Exposed" however, especially Chapter 14, 15 and 16, I have been sunk into a ocean of doubt and suspicion about the whole religion thing. I still go to the synagogue because I have many friends there, but as soon as my husband finishes reading it, I think I will have to re-examine not only my religion, but also the very idea of a G-d. Mr. Tulbure' book will not get many good reviews, since Christians will be quick to be dishonest and post harsh reviews simply because this book does EXACTLY what the Title claims. The arguments presented in his book are so powerful yet so masterfully crafted and immersed in simplicity, it is very hard to refute them. However, this book is only good for the open-minded reader. The fundamentalist Christians will reject this book out of hand because fundamentalists know that they are always right. I do wish, however, that Mr. Tulbure did not use so much sarcasm in the book. Those of you who need a good lesson in Bible Study will do well to get this book and read it carefully. Don't let the few spelling errors throw you off, the book is powerful to say the least. I want to thank the author for opening my eyes in way I never dreamed possible.

Christianity Exposed, upcoming 2nd edition,

This review is from: Christianity Exposed (Paperback)
The Bible is the "Holy Book" upon which Christianity is supposedly based; yet the vast majority of Christians would be surprised to find out what is really in "The Good Book". In Christianity Exposed, Dr. Solomon Tulbure uses the Bible to reveal little known facts about Christianity that your Sunday school teacher probably never told you. Rather than taking selected passages out of context to support his arguments, Dr. Tulbure explains the context and how it relates to the passage in question. One might think that a thorough, intense gathering of knowledge about a particular worldview would precede the dedicating of one's life to that worldview. Before becoming a Christian, for instance, it would be wise to read and understand the Bible. However, the vast majority of Christians become Christians because that is how they were raised and they were not taught to consider other points of view. Indeed, many are taught that it is sinful to consider other points of view. In Christianity Exposed, the truth about the Bible is revealed. Christianity Exposed provides compelling arguments that modern Western Christianity is based on the Biblical writings of Paul, not Jesus. Ideas such as salvation by faith, the Trinity and the "virgin birth" came from Paul, and not Jesus. Jesus claimed to be "the son of God", but only in the way that everyone in Judaism is a son or daughter of God; Jesus never claimed to be "God-the-Son". The Hebrew word in the Bible interpreted as "virgin" really means "young lady". Yet even as he attacks Paul's views, Dr. Tulbure points out that Jesus' teachings were not all that great, either. Not only were none of them unique, but also some of them were unethical and/or foolish. Also, the actions of Jesus depicted in the Bible were not that of a divine or perfect role model. Further, Jesus could not have been the Messiah, as he did not fulfill the prophesied Messianic expectations. God's character, as depicted in the Bible, is also challenged in the face of numerous chapters and verses in which God orders and/or helps carry out violent atrocities against men, women, and children, or demands harsh punishments against people for minor infractions. The author also uses Biblical text to challenge the idea that God, even as depicted in the Bible, is omnipotent. You may be surprised to learn that what you were taught about the Crucifixion, the Resurrection and doctrine of Original Sin isn't true, either. Dr. Tulbure also argues that religion is the root of evil and needs to be opposed, and that we need an alternative. In addition to religions that do not have gods, such as Theravada or Zen Buddhism or some forms of atheistic paganism (in which the deities are mere metaphors), there are many secular philosophies such as Secular Humanism, the Agnostic Church, Ethical Culture, and others. In Part II of this book, the author discusses his favorite alternative to religion, Ayn Rand's Objectivism. It is not my favorite, and I also do not agree with all the aims of the Illuminati Order, which the author also discusses in the appendixes. However, it is clear that Dr. Tulbure knows the Bible inside and out, and reveals things about the Bible that might shock the average Christian whose understanding of the Bible is normally limited to what his/her clergy teaches him/her in church...

... However, this book is quite good. If you ignore the few spelling errors, you will find this book a perfect reference Bible Study guide. It contains hundreds of Bible contradictions and it exposes all the main Christian doctrines down to the details. It is a must buy if you are seeking honest and down to earth research.

This book WILL become a best seller,
This review is from: Christianity Exposed (Paperback)
I can see why this book is a threat to Christianity and Judaism! I found out about this book on the christianforum.com and the guys there were asking people to come here and post bad reviews!I suppose those good christians forgot about honesty and integrity. Anyway, I bought the book, read it and I have stoped going to church as a result! I have not given up on Christ completely, but I feel that I am going to. This book is simply hard to refute. I had a meeting with my pastor and posed dozens of questions about the things mentioned in Christianity Exposed and I received very poor answers. I told my pastor not to expect me in church any more as I am on a jurney to find the truth. I am going to read this book a 4th time, because the more I read it the more it makes sense. I am glad there are still people out there who are willing to put the time and effort to write books such as these. Dr. Tulbure's arguments are very strong and many of them have shocked me. I looked up verses and notes and I was amazed by how much our pastors are hiding from us! I highly recomend this book to every single Christian out there!

A personal, self-justifying work - not an academic argument,
By Steve S (Birmingham UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Christianity Exposed (Paperback)
The `This book gets bad reviews cause Christians can't stand to be challenged' review from the author is typical of this books approach. As an academic I have read many texts critiquing Christianity in particular and religion in general.May I first then say that this is NOT an academic, reasoned book, but rather is akin to a poorly researched piece of tabloid journalism. The book itself is very well written, and draws the reader into Tulbure's own very focused worldview. To those not used to reading and analysing argument, this book could present a seemingly convincing thesis. However, when read with a knowledge of the subject from an academic standpoint, the arguments are tenuous and self sustaining, repeatedly based upon incredibly overstretched and unproved hypothesis. Perhaps most important to note is the authors own lack of perspective, causing him to stretch to accept any idea which may back-up his beliefs. Tulbure's insecurity in his own work is shown by his felt need to review his own book twice! I for one would no more choose to debate with the author than I would to debate with the local Priest or Rabbi - simply because you are dealing with 2 very different systems. The academic and the faith based. The authors book is perhaps more based upon his own beliefs than many devotional texts. If you are intending to read this book, consider the many other works out there that critique Christianity. If you read this book, or have read it already, reference other works, look further into his arguments. To the author, I would say, take some sort of academic course on religion. Even if you disagree with many if not all of the arguments, you will gain invaluable experience on writing a reasoned argument.

Good Job,

I would have given this book 5 stars, but because of the spelling errors and grammar errors I can't.The other 4 stars are for excellent work on taking Christianity at its word by "leaving no stone unturned" as Paul said. I am impressed!

HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT!,

This review is from: Christianity Exposed (Paperback)
This book is very well written, easy to understand. It is a real threat to Christianity because it is factual, well researchedand written so that even a 12 year-old child can understand it and make sense of it. I have read many books written by atheists and against Christianity, and this is one of the VERY BEST! In this book Mr. Tulbure covers every single subject and claim of Christianity and exposes every contradiction found in the Christian Bible. I highly recommend this book to every human being!

Mr. Tulbure does an excellent job of exposing scriptural problems with the bible. If you are the sort of Christian who takes the bible literally, Christianity Exposed is a must read. It will open your eyes

Fabulous! Absolutely Fabulous,

From the very start the author specifically states that he intended for the book to be easy to read by the unsophisticated readers especially! It IS!The book is VERY well documented and so logical it is absolutely a breath of fresh air to read! I have been questioning my Christian beliefs for a very long time but no longer. Dr. Tulbure gave me the certainty I need, the solid and sound answers I was looking for! I now consider myself an atheist. Thank you Dr. Tulbure for opening my eyes! I will be forever grateful!

Great Book!,
By Mike Stevens (Santa Ana, Ca, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Christianity Exposed (Paperback)
Solomon Tulbure manages to unravel the myths behind Christianity and their god(s) as nobody else has done so far. Tulbure's work is interesting, and even funny at points. Chapter 14, "The Law of Moses", is the absolute best atheist work I have ever read. I personally can't see how anyone could still consider the Bible Holy and inspired by an intelligent and divine being have the same belief in their god after reading this section. I do have one minor complaint about this book, however. There are some spelling and grammar errors, but if you ignore them I promise you the book is hard to put down. Overall, if you are a truly sincere believer in search of truth this book is sure to enlighten you. On the other hand, if you are a freethinker or thinking about becoming one, you must read this book. If you are a freethinker/atheist this book serves as the best Christian doctrine refutation reference library. Tulbure leaves nothing out, I promise you. |
