Beach Boys legend scores a hit with this scholarly yet readable look at a major world religion,
By Truman Chipotle (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Christianity (Religions of the World) (Kindle Edition)
Wouldn't it be nice if someone with tremendous creative genius turned his attention to the heavy (and often misunderstood) subject of comparative religion? God only knows a book like this has been needed for a long time. I guess I just wasn't made for these times, but I have long thought that someone should write the definitive book on Christianity, and wondered why no one succeeded in doing so. Heroes and villains alike have shaped the history of the Christian faith over a span of two thousand years, but Wilson treats them all with an even-handed and non-judgmental approach. In my room, I have two copies of this book, one for my library and one that I loan to friends. I'm waiting for the day when this book is more widely available. I know there's an answer, if you're looking for clear and concise writing on the various Christian sects that emerged in the first two centuries after Christ. Hang on to your ego, put aside all your preconceptions about this fascinating world faith, and get yourself a copy of Wilson's book. Good vibrations are starting to spread in the internet media about this important work. Caroline, no you cannot borrow my "loaner" copy, because you still have not returned that Dick Dale book about Sufism that I loaned you a few weeks ago.
