5.0 out of 5 stars best newcomer of the year
Christina showcases her vocal and writing talents in this amazing collection of tracks very well, its too good to be a first album.Popstars, rappers, hip-hoppers, and divas would reach the high standard of this on perhaps there 3rd album at the earliest. Not only is she fantastic at writing great pop and r'n'b songs e.g. play (written for christina, then given to lopez)...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great voice....but...
I waited a while for this one. I liked the way "AM to PM" sounded and this girl looks, acts, and sounds like a diva. HOWEVER, I really really don't like the songs with her featuring rappers. This CD is way more urban than I thought. I'd have prefered some spanish songs or remixes - especially since she's Cuban. On to the review: I really like "when you look...

Christina showcases her vocal and writing talents in this amazing collection of tracks very well, its too good to be a first album.Popstars, rappers, hip-hoppers, and divas would reach the high standard of this on perhaps there 3rd album at the earliest. Not only is she fantastic at writing great pop and r'n'b songs e.g. play (written for christina, then given to lopez) and the infectious am to pm, she is also a great ballad writer with tracks such as thankyou and until I get over you giving the album an emotional touch. Get this, shes only 19!

Although most of the popier songs on the album take the same format as am to pm e.g. got to have you (one of the best on the album) and your last call, there all different, and a joy to listen to!There are no tracks to avoid, perfect is on the verge of a filler, but is saved by the sudden turn of flavour in drum beats. low down:

1)am to pm- great r'n'b/pop song. Her first representitive song to the album. There are possibly better songs on the album, but every track could have a chart success.

2)you make me laugh - a fantastic powerful r'n'b song, It stands out and is a great second track.

3)Twitch - really good, slightly threatining song. has a TLC feel: could be compared to there album track silly ho, but the base isnt as pumped.

4)It hurts when - ballad! -gets lost in all the pop songs, but a very good effort, more of an r'n'b ballad, gets boring if you listen to it over and over again -but this is probably because the other few ballads are quite a bit better!

5)When you look at me - A great pop song that makes you want to get up and dance, the words are a bit wierd ; I could be your cook or your lover!?

6)A girl like me - has a we need a resolution (aliyah RIP) feel, xactly the same beat -written by JD - a chilled track - unfortunatly placed behind one of the best songs on the album -But a great change of pace from all of the upbeat songs before!

7)Satifaction Guaranteed - yet another change of pace. I dont like this song! -I would like it if it where on an artful dodger album, but this is the only garage song on the album - and it doesnt suite the slick style of the previous tracks and tracks to come! -it would probably do very well in the U.K charts though!

8)Until I get over you - a very powerful ballad: the best on the album, and one of the best songs aswell!no drums just voice and orchestral extras! -fantastic chrorus line: The sun wont shine since you went away, seems like the rain is fallin every day, Theres just one heart where there once was two, but thats the way its gotta be until i get over you. Its just came on my media player -I find myself singing along to it!

9)Got to have you- one of the 2 contenders for the best song on th album gainst track 8! Great pop song, makes you wanna dance, sing and listen at the same time. really upbeat.- Britney should sway more this way with some of her songs!(although her current album is fantastic;but Im not reviewing britney!)

10)your last call -another great pop song, but a step down from the last track, still a great song. This is yet another song that makes you wanna get down to the beat!

11)Perfect- the album quality here is finally beginning to dip, but not hardly noticibly!- this is an r'n'b song, but to lovey dovey for me!, I kinda hope i finish this review before it comes on!

12)Thankyou - a saving grace: the last track and the last ballad, not nessacerilly the best track to end a mainly pop/ r'n'b album with, but a great song. takes true ballad fashion in instruments words and drum beat!

The songs im hopin shell release are Got to have you, when you look at me, you make me laugh, maybe twitch or your last call: These songs and ofcourse the garage alternative satisfaction Guaranteed will deffinitly do very well in the UK charts! Overall a fantastic album!

4.0 out of 5 stars Christina Milian scores with a different kind of record..., May 15, 2003
Christina Milian is an astonishing new talent amongst the Britney Spears of the POP scene. Christina Milian actually writes all her songs and can sing. She has a charasmatic appeal to her, she wrote "Play" for Jennifer Lopez and even sings the chorus in the song for Ms. J-Lo, who failed to give her much credit. She has worked with Ja Rule on "Between Me And You" and with UK's Romeo on "It's All Gravy", as well as Japanese rapper S-Word on "The Answer". Look for Christina to blow up sometime soon in the US, she's had a #1 selling single already with "AM To PM". Currently she has two movies coming out this year TORQUE in June and IF YOU WERE MY GIRL in December, and has a song called "L-O-V-E" spinning around with Joe Budden.

I love this girl!!!I don't understand why she isn't more famous. This album is great. I heard am to pm a long time ago, and was interested in her, but the album never came out. So when "It's about time" came out, I was ready for the album. i bought it...loved it. But when i found out that this album came out overseas, i went crazy and ordered it. If you love Christina Milian, you'll love this album. it's filled with pop, hip hop, and especially r&b....

I got this cd a few weeks ago and it's aewsome! I love Christina Milian and then 2 years later(now) she came out with It's About Time featuring the hits, Dip It Low and Whatever U Want. On this album from the girl who started out in Ja Rule's Between Me And You, Christina Milian, includes all 3 hits, AM To PM, Get Away, and When You Look At Me. This album is more than good, it's EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Twitch" sounds like it could be Mya.
"Until I get Over You" is really pretty, but sad. It will make you cry. "Thank you" is beautiful also. Very pop, not R&B. "You Make Me Laugh" sounds good, is catchy.
I guess I just hate "Get Away", "Spending Time", and "A Girl Like Me".
But, she's a great singer. Way better than Beyonce who's winning the awards this year!

This review is from: Christina Milian (Dig) (Audio CD)
I've actually had this CD since june or july, and I absoultly LOVE it! The first Single AM to PM is great, and after having it for half a year it still hasen't gotten boring! And the amazing thing about this CD is that she is such a young person and has writen all the songs herself. And they're not just senceless songs either, they're really good songs with meaning! When this CD finally comes out I would definately recomend copping it!!

Why are record companies so hard on up and coming artist>? they dont know if the audience is going to soak it up or not... i just wish they could give chances on artist on the rise... we need new talent in this world... more like christina milian..... she is a triple threat (actor, singer, dancer). christina reminds me of the 90s janet jackson... sexy talented and can make a man cry lookin so dang good...

this album is a great debut... 'am to pm' is a hot track... great dance song... the only song i dont like is the joint with ja rule... he is just wack period... my girl charlie baltimore is on here and she is on fire as usual...

the whole album is hot and should have been released in the states...

4.0 out of 5 stars She is SO underrated!!!, October 18, 2004
This review is from: Christina Milian (Audio CD)
Well, more accurately, this ALBUM was so underrated. I'm actually not too thrilled with Christina's more recent stuff. Anyways, here we go:

GET AWAY: Kinda weird. Kinda boring. I don't listen to this one too much. But....you know....the more I listen to this song, I realize parts of it are kinda cool. (3/5)

AM TO PM: The album's hit, and rightfully so!! I LOVE this song!! Incredible dance beats-the breakdown is beautiful. Way better than "Dip It Low." (5/5)

WHEN YOU LOOK AT ME: Fun little song. Kinda catchy. The album's second and last single. I really like the beginning and the rappish verse after the chorus is really cool-I feel like the chorus could have been better musically. But the lyrics are cool-it talks about judgment. Christina's second singles are almost always kinda mediocre, but this is better than "Whatever U Want." (4/5)

SPENDING TIME: I rarely listen to this one. Not too thrilled with it. Slow R&B jam. Quite boring. (2/5)

IT HURTS WHEN...: Another really slow track. She sings beautifully here, but it's a very boring song. (1/5)

YOU MAKE ME LAUGH: A catchy, sassy little tune. One of the speedier tracks here. This talks about nasty/backstabbing/abusive peers. (4/5)

A GIRL LIKE ME: Weird.....I can't stand Jermaine Dupri. He has the most annoying, nasal, almost girly voice......but the beat is a tad catchy. (2/5)

TWITCH: I like this one. The beat at the beginning is really cool. The lyrics (and parts of the music) remind me of Joe's "Stutter." Another catchy, speedy one. (5/5)

UNTIL I GET OVER YOU: Beautiful song, beautiful vocals, but boring. I'm not that crazy about ballads. But very pretty song. Really sad. (4/5)

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED: Hmm. I don't really know what to think of this one. It's sort of weird. The beginning is speedy, techno-ish. Kinda fun. (4/5)

GOT TO HAVE YOU- I REALLY like this song!! Infectious and catchy beat. This should have been the album's second single. Sort of a girly song-for some reason, the ballroom-sounding backing track reminds me of Cinderella. A poppy, danceable song. Second-best on the album. (5/5)

THANK YOU- Meaningful words, but very slow and very boring. (2/5)

YOUR LAST CALL- Surprisingly fun and catchy. Probably the third or fourth best here. I like the breakdown/verse. Extremely similar to *Nsync's "Game Over." (4/5)

OVERALL SCORE: 45/65

All in all, yeah, there's a lot of filler and the album is a tad ballad-heavy, and in some parts it feels like they didn't spend quite as much time and effort on other tracks as they did on "AM To PM." But there are still very worthwhile tracks here, and Christina's voice is beautiful on every single one. And whatever the case, this is far better than her second album. This is Christina at her best-if you want some really good soul/R&B/hip hop/pop/dance music, this is for you!!

i have no idea why christina milian is not so successful in the united states as opposed to asia. if americans listened and saw what milian had to offer with her lyrics and voice and pop/hiphop vibe, she would have been as or more successful than jojo, even beyonce, come on now... beyonce, is the body. thaz it. christina is the lyrics, voice, personality and attitude. this cuban american will be a hit on the billboard with her new album "its about time" and that's when all of us , who found her amazing when everyone else ignored her, will say , "yeah now usa is payin attention to her"
