5.0 out of 5 stars Christine Ebersole & Noel Coward: what a pair!! November 23, 2010
Format:Audio CD
What a spectacular CD this is. For those people who only know Ms Ebersole's voice thru her GREY GARDENS or SUNDAY IN NEW YORK CDs, this will come as a huge surprise. This album came about as a result of Ms Ebersole's participation in the revival of BLITHE SPIRIT and several "snippets" of songs were heard during the scene changes.
Her warm and vibrant soprano voice soars thru these beautiful Coward melodies...each one a gem. The wonderful arrangments were done by Larry Yurman, who is also Ms Ebersole's pianist and collaborator.
People forget how wonderful these Coward songs are and I am truly grateful to Ms Ebersole for bringing them back to the limelight.BRAVA!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD is all kinds of wonderful November 24, 2010
Format:Audio CD
If you've heard Christine Ebersole sing, you know her lovely, crystal-clear voice alone is enough of a reason to get this CD. But, what I really love about this one is that her brilliant acting comes through and makes it just a delight. She interprets the songs and it translates--you can hear her smile; feel the heartbreak... It's really special.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christine Ebersole Was Born To Sing Noel Coward December 15, 2010
Format:Audio CD
Thursday - December 16th, 2010

Christine Ebersole was born to sing Noel Coward. There is no finer singer in the world. It's as if Noel Coward composed these masterpieces for her. She has an inborn vocal elegance that shines through & gleams like spun gold. Christine is gifted with a vocal Stradivarius that is the most beautiful instrument to listen to. She has a way of interpreting the many layered deep emotions of what Noel Coward wanted to convey, by painting pictures in the air from her soul & therefore, she thrills the auditory senses, while touching on all of your emotions at the exact same time with her grace. This combination is incredibly rare & brilliant artistry at its very finest. Christine is such an intelligent musician & knows exactly what the material is about. Her God given perfectly classical voice, is overwhelmingly gorgeous & shimmers with every vibrant color in the vocal palette, with just the right shades & hues always. When she performs Noel Coward, it's as if she's conjured up his spirit, so that she can sing directly to him. Christine's glowing majesty & French that is like a native in "Matelot," arranged with "Come The Wild, Wild Weather" is sheer heaven. She takes you to a place that is both reverent & on a divine level in each song. Maestro Larry Yurman is her accompanist & his arrangements are in great Noel Coward style. This passionate conductor for Christine's "Grey Gardens," caresses the keys of the piano from his heart & makes each note live to sound more like a full orchestra. Christine Ebersole & Larry Yurman have combined their incredible musicianship & this collaboration has brought the gifts of Noel Coward to life in the best way possible.
