4.0 out of 5 stars Has one story I've re-read more than five times

More than just kisses under the mistletoe:

More than just kisses under the mistletoe:

The Seduction Season by Helen Bainchin: Instead of a Christmas break lazing in the Queensland sun, it seems Anigue's aunt has arranged for her to spend her holiday preparing meals for an infuriating, sexy Frenchman. So Anique cooks up her revenge with glee, never guessing that Sebastian will end up appointing himself her unofficial bodyguard, and a romance neither expected blossoms--just in time for Christmas.

Miracle on Christmas Eve by Sandra Marton: On the anniversary of Nick's divorce from Holly, he's taken a sentimental journey to spend Christmas in the hideaway where he and she honeymooned. Holly, wanting to some to terms with her past, has the same idea!

Yuletide Reunion by Sharon Kendrick: Once, Clemmie and Aleck were in love. And now they've found that they're both single parents, and next-door neighbours. Despite the undimished sizzle between them, they decide they'd better by "just friends". But they can't seem to manage that, and the children will have none of it! They're angling for a marriage proposal...

And my review:
One nice thing about this anthology was that there were only three stories in it, meaning the authors had a bit more room to work.

I didn't finish the first story. The characters were just too flat. Exotic alpha male wins over harpie by taking her to bed and loving all the coldness out of her. Yeah, like this theme hasn't been done to death. Did not interest me. One star.

The second story was WONDERFUL! I've yet to read anything by Sandra Marton that I didn't like. The plot opened with a bang, followed by a bunch of laugh-out-loud moments, followed by sweet tender moments of reunited love. What more could you ask for? The characters were well drawn, and this story just kept me glued to my couch until I finished it. I've read it every year since I found it in a thrift store. Some of the best $2 I ever spent! Highly recommended. Five stars.

Did not make it past page five of the last story. I read romance for love, not lust, and this one was just oozing with the latter. The first time the couple meets, as teenagers, they end up practically "doing it" on a windowsill in the high school! Sorry, but I don't like "lust at first sight" stories. If you go for that sort of thing, then you might like this. I didn't. One star.

Once again, a mixed bag, but the one good story was so good that the junk surrounding it can be forgiven.

3.0 out of 5 stars Christmas with a Little Different Scenery, January 3, 2000
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
One story takes place in Australia, one in a mountain cabin in the U.S., and the final story in England. Each has it's own Christmas cheer, but I liked "Yuletide Reunion" by Sharon Kendrick the best.
