5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful new Colby series book!, November 21, 2006
Elaine Younger just doesn't get into the whole hyped up version of Christmas. Ever the hard worker, the Colby Agency receptionist volunteers to stay late to accommodate the musicians for the upcoming company Christmas party, particularly since she isn't going to attend the party. Instead of musicians, Elaine finds herself on the run from armed masked men in a locked skyscraper with Brad Gibson as her only help. Brad suspects the intruders are after him while Elaine fears they want the confidential information safeguarded by the Colby Agency. Meanwhile, Brad and Elaine must stay alive. Will this be the last Christmas for the Colby Agency?

A COLBY CHRISTMAS documents the 25th case in the series and one would think this series would be losing steam. Instead, Debra Webb demonstrates her staying power as this is one of the best books yet in what continues to be a phenomenal series. Brad and Elaine are a superb addition to the growing list of characters populating this long-standing series.

As one would expect from a Christmas story, many of the prior couples are mentioned and their current situations updated for readers who have grown to love them all. These happy reunions provide the perfect contrast to the heart-pounding action occurring in the skyscraper where the Colby Agency is housed. There is never a dull moment in A COLBY CHRISTMAS! This reviewer lost a lot of sleep by picking up Ms. Webb's fantastic novel just before bedtime as this book is not one that can be put down until the final, dramatic conclusion. Congratulations, Ms. Webb, on a job well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling Quick Read, March 14, 2007
By
Book Description: Golden boy Brad Gibson never expected his climb up the corporate ladder would involve dodging bullets. But after he discovered corruption at a leading financial firm, someone wanted his head. Even worse, he feared he was about to lose an exciting opportunity to join the Colby Agency. Now on Christmas Eve he was locked inside a skyscraper equipped with a state-of-the-art security system alongside Colby receptionist Elaine Younger, a doe-eyed beauty not to be underestimated. But with four masked men intent on bringing the agency to its knees, it was going to be a long night of gunfire and dangling mistletoe before Christmas dawned on the most dangerous couple in Chicago.

A lot of tension packed in so few pages. I was surprised that the author could pack so much tension within so few pages. What's going on? Who are they after, why? Will they get caught? Will they make it out alive? I was thankful and amazed that the story was a quick read that was complete, enjoyable, and satisfying.
