This is a very soulful album with some beautifully sung tracks. A nice album for the christmas CD collection. Well worth a listen!

Kind of interesting that Gladys Knight begins this collection with the largely spoken word version of "The Night Before Christmas" that's actually quite tastefully done and serves as a reminder that a good singer is usually a good narrator in a spoken context. Gladys and the boys don't actually overdo it on any of the tracks here. She's always been soulful and expressive without pulling out all the stops. She focuses on the songs' lyrics and leaves the ornamentation to the instruments for the most part. It's a tendency shared by the Pips as well. When they step up for a solo, as on "The Christmas Song," it's smooth, clean and not show-offy at all. Like all good singers, Gladys Knight knows when to do understated and when to go full-throttle. Economizing at Christmas is a good idea, for singers it's a virtual must. Gladys Knight doesn't overdo it here, but she does add an element of soul to the Christmas songs you already know. It works beautifully for the most part. Recommended.

Nothing spells Christmas for my hisband more than Gladys singing "Do you Hear What I Hear"! We had this album on tape, but the CD quality is better and easier to include in our Christmas music.

Good Christmas album from Gladys Knight and the Pips. The highlight is "Do You Hear What I Hear?"

Did you ever have diffiulties with the Opera Divas singing the two most famous Ave Maria, by Schubert and Bach/Gounod respectively, give these interpretations by the outstanding Gladys Knight a chance and you will find yourself in the company of the warmth, tenderness and congeniality of the notoriously underrated soulsinger, Ms Knight, surpassed by few.

Being a great fan of Gladys Knight and the Pips and looking forward to this Christmas CD was a sad disappointment.
There are a few good songs but not enough to buy it!
