5.0 out of 5 stars Herp Alpert & the Tijuana Brass Christmas Album, November 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Christmas Album (Audio CD)
My parents have this great LP, and I think they bought it new in 1966. Our family has listened to it ever since I can remember (I was born in early 1970's). This CD would be great for any Christmas party. The music and lyrics are similar to those in "Breakfast at Tiffany's," but with a Christmas twist. "The Bell that Couldn't Jingle" is my favorite, and reminds me of Christmas with my brothers and parents. This is a great non-traditional Christmas CD for those of us who like things a little different.

4.0 out of 5 stars Herb Alpert & the TJB Christmas Album - A Holiday Classic!, December 1, 1999

I've been a fan of Herb Alpert since I was about 10 years old (I'm 43 now). I first bought the Christmas Album in 1969 and promptly wore it out. This album brings back fantastic memories of my childhood in the 60's and is still relevant today. Of particular mention are Herb's version of "Winter Wonderland", which is so hot it melts Parson Brown, and "Jingle Bell Rock" with the stripper coda reminiscent of David Rose. If you wanna remember Christmases of the mid to late 60's, buy this album. There were a lot of imitators back then, but Alpert stands the test of time!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Christmas albums!, November 17, 2003
This review is from: Christmas Album (Audio CD)
I remember listening to this every night as a kid when I went to sleep near Christmas time. The songs seeped into my subconcious. Now as an adult I can't find it anywhere. $120 secondhand on Amazon?? No wonder the music industry is losing money. They keep pumping out endless loops of junk while a possible good seller goes by the wayside. They could re-issue this one, sell it for 10.99 and make a mint! Heck, I'd buy at least 4 myself and give them as gifts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Childhood Memories, September 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Christmas Album (Audio CD)
Once you listen to this cd you will not be able to decorate your tree, or even get in the festive mood without it. This album is so good that I start listening to it in September!!! I have many memories of decorating the christmas tree and setting up decorations, but the memories would not be complete without the songs from this cd. The Bell that Couldn't Jingle is a personal favorite.

4.0 out of 5 stars A&M Records Wake-Up!, November 21, 2003

This would make a great Christmas CD if you could buy it! I wanted to order about 6 or 7 Herb Alpert CDs (especially the Christmas CD) but most of the original releases are out of print? If there are thousands of CDs available for "Video Game Soundtracks" , why does great music like Herb Alpert's go out of print? When did "Real" style.........go out of style? If these classic CDs are released again I will buy them but until then, I guess I will have to settle for 30-second samples at Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Holiday Treat!, September 24, 1998
By
This review is from: Christmas Album (Audio CD)
This is a fun CD for Christmas. Great arrangements on tried and true songs, but done with such spirit! Herb Alpert has the Brass grooving through "Winter Wonderland", then follows with a samba version of "Jingle Bells". Even Alpert's vocals are good here. Shorty Rogers provides a choir for a backdrop, and sometimes that gets old, but that doesn't stop the fun. The TJB constantly changes tempos on "Sleigh Ride", and pulls out a striptease sound on "Jingle Bell Rock". This should be a "must have" CD for any Christmas collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Christmas tradition for thirty years., November 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Christmas Album (Audio CD)
This is an album that, once you hear it, you will not be able to spend a Christmas without. The arrangements on this disc are warm, festive and at times, melancholy. But, above all, they are infectious. It's a terrific holiday collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Q: Is A&M run by grinches??, December 9, 2004
This review is from: Christmas Album (Audio CD)
This is one of the best Christmas albums out there, but why isn't it available? I have great memories of listening to these songs as a kid growing up in the late 70s, and I would love to add this to my Christmas CD collection. But I cannot spend $100 on any CD, and I sure won't spend it on a used one.

THIS ONE NEEDS TO BE RE-RELEASED, A&M.
