Biography

The Jackson 5 were one of the most popular disco-pop groups of the 70s, and spawned the massively successful solo career of lead singer Michael Jackson. Jermaine Jackson also enjoyed success as a solo performer, while sister Janet Jackson (who was never a member of the Jackson 5) also became a pop superstar in the 80s.

The five young brothers signed to Motown in 1968, and released their first… Read more in Amazon's Jackson 5 Store

4.0 out of 5 stars Give Love on Christmas Day, November 27, 2001
By
This review is from: Christmas Album (Audio CD)
Originally released October 15, 1970 this cd still sounds fresh and alive. The brothers' bantering (though forced and stiff) before a few of the songs and playfullness throughout give a sense of family and togetherness that I love. Sure they aren't always in top singing form, but I forgive them 'cause I love them so much. Also the high energy and delight they have singing songs like "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Calus" and "santa Claus is Coming to Town" is infectious and washes away any blemishes. "Give Love on Christmas Day" is perhaps one of my all-time favorite Christmas songs as it perfectly sums up the what the holiday is all about - love.

For true J5 (or Michael) fans or those who want a fun, energitic family themed Christmas cd, you can't go wrong with the Jackson 5 Christmas Album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly a classic, January 22, 2000
By
This review is from: Christmas Album (Audio CD)
This is one of the best Christmas albums I know. It's interesting that the boys were able to put so much into the songs and they were Jehovah's Witnesses at the time (most of them still are). Their version of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" is truly enjoyable. "Give Love On Christmas Day" never has and never will sound more perfect than it does on this album with Michael's mature voice providing the lead. Of course, no one can forget the most popular cut on the album, "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town." Michael's high and shrill voice makes it the most distinctive version of this song ever. For those that love Christmas music, the Jackson 5, or both, you MUST have this album. It will truly make your holiday a lot more special.

5.0 out of 5 stars J5 Christmas Album review, December 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Christmas Album (Audio CD)
My older brother purchased this album in 1970 and I have not listened to it in 25 years. When I saw that amazon.com carried the CD, I jumped on it. This is a great album for children of the 1960's and for children of the 1990's. If your a Jackson 5 fan and you love Christmas, this is a must for your collection.
