This review is from: The Christmas Alphabet (Hardcover)
I discovered Robert Sabuda's books while researching Amazon for children's books. We have 5 grandchildren , all under the age of 2 with the exception of l; she turned two in July! Not only do I plan on ordering this exceptional book for them all, I'm getting one for myself. I am 62 years old!!! I plan on collecting ALL of Sabuda's works of art. That's how highly I recommend The Movable Mother Goose. You will be highly pleased with this book!

Magical!,
This review is from: The Christmas Alphabet (Hardcover)
[This review was first published in the Ephrata (Pa.) Review."]
If you missed this marvel of paper engineering when it first came out in 1994, now's the chance to get a copy of a 10th-anniversary edition. The format is simple. Seven two-page spreads of white cardboard, each with four modest little folders, or "doors," labeled with letters of the alphabet. But prepare to be dazzled by Sabuda's magic. Open one of the folders and ta-da! a live dove flies out. Well not quite... but almost. Behind each of the 27 "doors" lies a white pop-out surprise that illustrates a Christmas-related word. Open "Door C" for example and glimpse a candle's halo whirr into place behind the flame. Open "G" to flamboyant swirls and a box. Lift the box's lid to discover what the gift is. Lift "Q" to a bouncy quartet of singers. The mechanically inclined will immediately set about trying to figure out how the pop-ups "work." Others will simply enjoy the shapes and the creativity behind them. Because of the book's fragile nature, I wouldn't hand this book off to a toddler. But with supervision and assistance, this is a visual treat all ages can enjoy.

Jean's review,
This review is from: The Christmas Alphabet (Hardcover)
Not only is this the MOST beautiful and intriguing book I've ever given to my children, the story of how it came to be is an important reminder to hang onto our dreams. It's perfect for anyone of any age. I gave it to my boss last year (someone who "has everything") and she loves it.

The Christmas Alphabet book,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Christmas Alphabet (Hardcover)
This thrilling book grabbed me immediately. The paper folding is unbelievably intricate & gorgeous. The story behind it was so meaningful, too. I bought about twelve copies for presents the year I first saw it. It's not for small children unless an adult is present to stop possible damage to the paper folds. I'm saving one copy for our son whenever he marries.

This review is from: The Christmas Alphabet (Hardcover)
The contents are an unbelievablely artistic origami rendering of the items named by each letter of the alphabet. Behind each letter's door is yet another surprise popout that is as original as it is beautiful. It is one of the most captivating books I have ever looked at. Any child, or adult, would appreciate it. First rate!

Beautiful Gift Book for Christmas,
By
This review is from: The Christmas Alphabet (Hardcover)
This is a simple, yet beautiful book of pop-up paper scultptures, each representing a theme from A to Z. It is not a book for young children, but rather for an older child or an adult who appreciates simple elegance and dramatic paper sculptures. This is also a great book for people who like to collect alphabet books. It also makes a beautiful "coffee table book" during the holiday season.

If you love pop ups, this is a MUST have,
By
This review is from: The Christmas Alphabet (Hardcover)
This detailed, intricate pop up by Robert Sabuda is a must have for any pop up lover. It would make an incredible Christmas gift, too. Sitting out on a table during the holidays, it will attract adults and children. If nothing else, it will slow you down a bit during the season to open every alphabet letter and appreciate all the detail of the book.

Everyone who loves Christmas should have this book!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Christmas Alphabet (Hardcover)
When my mother gave us "The Christmas Alphabet," she said she knew we'd love it, and she was right. So do all the guests who visit us during the holidays! In fact, we now play a game with the book whenever new people see it. We tell them to try and guess what picture will pop up to correspond to each letter. Correct guesses bring squeals of delight, but even wrong guesses lead to admiration for the design that springs out. Of course, the letter "z" always leads to great puzzlement! This book will always be a treasure in our house as well as a favorite gift to give to others!

The Christmas Alphabet,
This review is from: Christmas Alphabet, Deluxe Anniversary Edition Pop-up Book (Hardcover)
I have been a fan of Robert Sabuda since my first purchase, The Christmas Alphabet, 10 years ago. I have since that time purchased 3 more of his books---all of them beautifully featuring his genius. I am a great grandmother and while my grandchildren & great grandchildren always love to look through the pages & marvel at the content. I purchased them for this old 74 year old who is always amazed at the talent & ingenuity he captures in all his books!!
