Not accurate,
This review is from: Christmas Around The World (Turtleback School & Library Binding Edition) (School & Library Binding)
I was looking for a book to teach my children about how other countries celebrate Christmas. I grew up in Germany, so I started out by reading the section about Christmas in Germany and was very surprised to learn that, according to this book, children in Germany try to listen for Kris Kringle who comes through the window to bring gifts. By the time the kids go to bed on Christmas Eve in Germany, they will have opened their presents that were left behind by "Christkind" (Christ child), since they open their presents on Christmas Eve. There is no "Kris Kringle" in Germany.
After reading this, I decided not to even bother trying to use this book for my children - if they got the part about Germany so wrong, I wouldn't trust anything else in this book to be accurate. |
