A Lovely Story,

This book is one of the best books that I have read this holiday season. The story is about a lab hunting dog that had an experience as a puppy that made him afraid of loud noises including guns; thus he becomes a beloved pet. The story is narrated by the dog. It really is a human love story as well as a "dog" love story. Without giving very much away, the story actually got me to thinking about owning another dog. I had been dogless after a traumatic loss for over a year. This story helped me to know that it is OK to move on. I am now the proud owner of a puppy and this story helped set the stage. I recommend it for anyone.
Now for the negative, the story is fairly short - 125 or so pages. Part of the book is "previews" of other books by the authors. Can't say that I enjoyed those as much as they were really a different writing style, content, and genre, plus a little rough language and content (quite unlike the story that the book was intended to present to the reader). |
