Christmas Blast From The Past,
By Riverside Dreamer (Connersville, IN. USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Christmas With Buck Owens (Audio CD)
My Mom recently bought me, my sister, and herself a copy of this CD. (Sorry to say she paid ALOT more through a mail order catalog)
My favorite Christmas memories are of listening to Buck Owens while my family put the Christmas Tree! I think the reason this album stands the test of time is because nearly every song was original. Which is very rare in a Christmas album! I love EVERY song on this album, but if I had to pick a favorite it would be a toss up between "Santa's Gonna Come In A Stagecoach" and "Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy" THANK YOU Buck Owens for all the wonderful memories!

One of the best,

Wow.......this has to be one of the best xmas album...cd whatever. I grew up to my dad playing this ALOT, what memories it brings to me of him, as I ordered the cassette for him, which i know he will love. Buck sings so well on this album, as its good country music. Christmas aint christmas, has to be one of my ALL time favorite songs....EVER, I can imagine my dad over-seas, spending time away from my mom while in the service, sit down and listen to the words, they are GREAT. Just don't drink to much and listen to it, as tears will roll down your face, as they do mine all the time.......enjoy this.

First of two classic Christmas albums,
By
This review is from: Christmas With Buck Owens (Audio CD)
Buck recorded two Christmas albums back in the sixties. While I agree with most people that this is the better of the two, I don't think there's much to choose between them. This begins with the Christmas song most identified with Buck, Santa looked a lot like Daddy. Travis Tritt is one of several singers to have covered this joyful gem. Most of the other songs here are originals but everybody will recognize Jingle bells, done here as an instrumental. There are several sad songs here, especially Christmas ain't Christmas and Blue Christmas tree, but plenty of Christmas cheer too, including the amusing Santa's gonna come in a stagecoach and the love song All I want for Christmas dear is you. This album will provide plenty of entertainment for traditional country fans.

in my opinion, this is the best christmas album ever. I've listened to this since I was a baby and can't find any other album that even comes close. If you want old-time country, you wont be disappointed.

We used to listen to this every year as I was growing up as we decorated the family Christmas tree. Finding this on cd has allowed me to continue that tradition with my children. It brings back wonderful memories of Christmas past and is creating new memories for my own family. I'm so glad this is available on cd now!

This item was purchased as a gift but I know the person is extremely happy with this selection. She is 84 years old and has been looking for this item for a few years. She had even met Buck Owens when she was younger.

I love this CD! The twangy guitars and out front pedal steel work by Tom Brumley are spine chilling (for me anyway). Some people don't care for this sort of music though, so I've heard. "Santa Looked Alot Like Daddy" is a fun & clever song worth the whole CD (more recently recorded by Garth Brooks, but this original version is better in my opinion). If you like Buck Owens music, you'll love this one.

I grew up with this album. It is a tradition to play it every Christmas. His humorous lyrics and old time country style make you laugh and want to sing along! My favorite is "Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy". Enjoy!
