My 2 year old loves to look at this book. She loves the colors, but she really loves looking for the mouse on each page. Such a great idea!

Not enough of a story to be a fun book, my son was not interested in this book. Great idea just not enough put into it.

I have the Alice and Wonderland book by this author and both my 3yr old and infant really love that book...so, I was excited to see this Christmas Carol book. However, the pictures in this book don't really grab their attention as much. The book has pictures related to the story and each page just names one of the objects and the color of it (ie: "gold chains"). I like it, but would really recommend the Alice one instead because I love that one.

This purchase was my introduction to the BabyLit series. I really wasn't sure what I was getting when I purchased this. I love this classic tale, and wanted to begin to introduce my son (18 months) to it in a "baby friendly" way. In case you are wondering, as I was, I will explain a bit of the book, which I am guessing is similar to the other books in this series.
There is no plot or story here, and the characters are not really introduced although some of them are visible. Each page shows an item or character from the story and a few words, usually including a color, describing it. For example, one of the pages shows a non-threatening Jacob Marley and says "Gold Chains". This is basically how the book works. I doubted what impact this book would have on my child, but he did seem to enjoy it somewhat, however, he doesn't ask for it like he does other books. He does remember some of the pages. Because we made it fun, he did enjoy periodically saying "Bah Humbug" which made everyone laugh. I can't say whether it is a great purchase or not. I'm not too sure how well it introduces little ones to the classics, but it does reinforce descriptors like colors, and my son enjoyed it although it is clearly not his favorite read.

My first BabyLit book and not my last! Love introducing babies and small children to great literature in ways they can enjoy. By the time children who have been exposed to these books reach kindergarten they will be familiar with the names Charles Dickens, Jane Austin, etc. and books like Moby Dick, Pride and Prejudice. Of course they won't know much about them, but they will know there is a world beyond the wonderful One Fish Two Fish and Golden Books.

The more beauty we expose our children to when they are young, the more they are ready to appreciate all the wonderful things the world has to offer.

2 stars because the book looks very nice and is well made. I wanted to like it. But the lack of story makes this one of the most boring books in my 20 toddler's collection. No story, no rhymes, and not even many objects on each page to talk about. I get it is about colors, but when you open to two pages, after saying "brown boots" and "look at the man", there is nothing else to engage the reader. My son walks away from this one every time.

With so many great titles to choose from you will find what you are looking for in the Baby Lit collection. Each one features different elements for little ones to learn from colors to numbers to opposites. A Christmas Carol won't disappoint; with it's wonderful illustrations and delightful connection to the true Dickens text you will enjoy reading this book with your little one!

I ordered this to see what these books are like - I am very fond of fine literature. Combining it with another of my favorites is a win/win combo!! I like the idea of planting the idea of reading classic stories even for infants. And the author+illustrator did a fine job of combining a simple grammatical concept with a well known story. I'm buying more of them!
