The classic movie version of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" evokes the magical flavours of the holiday season in this addition to Abbeville's Hollywood Cookbook series. In this book, Dicken's popular story, brought to the screen by MGM in 1938, provides the backdrop for Christmas party food, including hot and cold starters, drinks, cookies, desserts and edible gifts for family and friends. Party recipes provided range from a magnificent Victorian Christmas party hosted by Ebenezer Scrooge's nephew Fred, to a simpler yet festive get-together at the Cratchits. Those who like to collect cookbooks will surely enjoy this little gem. Filled with recipes, and illustrated with photos from the classic film adaptation of A Christmas Carol with Allister Simms, this unique little book will please the most discriminating cooks and readers. Each recipe is named for a character in the story, and most can be made with easy to obtain ingredients. It's a treat for the eye, and the palette, and will enhance any holdiay celebration. Moreover, many of the dishes can be enjoyed all year long.
