E-Book version - great for the cat or dog lover,
By Barbara Rhoades "Jackie of all Trades" (O'Fallon, MO USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Christmas Cats and Dogs: Quilts to Celebrate the Season (That Patchwork Place) (Paperback)
This is the first e-book that I have used in quilting. I am "old school" and still love the feel of holding a "real" book in my hands but I thought I would try to be "more modern" (as my children keep telling me I should be!) and try an e-book version.
As in all things, there are pros and cons to each. The e-book allows me to easily select pages and print what I want --- meaning that I no longer have to "fight" with either trying to hold a book open or having a broken binding. Of course, the con side is almost the same thing. You don't have a book that has a broken binding which shows just how much you "love" the book because it has been well used. The book itself contains 10 pages of general quilting instructions and shows various things such as how to applique, suggestions on cutting, piecing, pressing and quilt finishing. There are 21 projects; many are adaptable so you can make ornaments, package decorations or garlands besides the quilt or wall hanging that is the actual pattern. The projects have a photo of the finished item, the size and a small blurb about the project. Finished block size and a photo of the actual block itself comes next. Then the material and cutting lists show what you need and how it should be cut. Block sewing instructions are next with graphics to help you see what your block should look like during the assembly steps. There are no suggestions for how to quilt your items but there are Cat Chat and Dog Talk boxes that contain tips or hints such as a special hand embroidery design for a mouse tail. Templates are included and do not need to be enlarged. A very short bio winds up this book. This would be a good "early Christmas" gift for the quilter in your life. After all, that quilter has to have time to create the items in order for you to get one of them for Christmas!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I was looking for this book when I saw a quilt made from one the patterns. The lady is the quilt shop told me she could no longer get the pattern and had given hers away. She also told me that Amazon had the pattern for $150. I checked out your used book dealers and found one for about $21.50 or so. It is exactly what I was looking for and in great shape when I received it. Thanks again for greast service!

I'm a dreamer waiting for retirement who purchased this book. It is filled with a number of projects that look like they will be easy to make. It would be a delightful addition to anyone's collection who is interested in quilting and cats/dogs.
