Like No Other Christmas Album, July 14, 2003
This review is from: Christmas in the City (Audio CD)
This album is truly my favorite of all albums. The never before releases on them are so rare. For instance the Silent Night number was sung by the original and founder of the Supremes Florence Ballard, her only solo. The forgotten backbone of Motown, The Famous Funk Brothers did a beautiful instrumental rendition of Winter Wonderland. Why only one song from this dynamic group? Marvin Gaye's Purple Snowflakes is a masterpiece to me. My original copy was destroyed, and I could never find this album again. I read it was no longer available. So I still have the left over damaged tape. I hope I can find it again. This is one album if you are lucky to obtain, you will never let it go. I can listen to it year round. It is such a beautiful compilation. Thanks Motown(from Detroit). P.S FUNK BROTHERS FOREVER!!

Great collection of Motown rarities, October 29, 2009
This review is from: Christmas in the City (Audio CD)
This CD contains unreleased Christmas songs from Motown's major hit makers. My favorites are Marvin's Purple Snowflakes and the Supremes' Silent Night, with Florence on lead. Diana does a solo act on This Christmas, and there's a great instrumental from the Funk Brothers on Winter Wonderland as well. It's out of print, but you're into the Motown sound, get this CD to add to your collection.

Christmas in Motor City, November 28, 2003
This review is from: Christmas in the City (Audio CD)
This CD features Motown Christmas rarities. Lots of fine stuff here. My personal favorite is "I Just Want To Come Home For Christmas", by Marvin Gaye. It's a moving song about being away from your family on Christmas, and it gets me choked up. Your Motown Christmas collection isn't complete without this CD.
