A fine holiday offering from the Statlers,

With their penchant for nostalgia-based material, the Statler were the perfect candidates to make a Christmas album... In fact, they've made quite a few! This disc reissues one of those records in its entirety, 1978's "Statler Brothers Christmas Card," which has a nice mix of old classics and new material. The new stuff is best: the boys pick out plainspoken, sentimental songs like "I Believe In Santa's Clause" and "Christmas To Me" that wonder what's happened to the old-fashioned, love-your-neighbor flavor of the holiday, and long for the good old days... And you really believe 'em when they sing about it... Good record; not too corny and certainly worth checking out.

Holiday Music at its Best,

Terrific Christmas album from the Statlers. This album was done when the group was in their prime (though they always sounded great), and the original tenor Lew DeWitt was still with the group. "I Believe in Santa's Cause" and "The Carols Those Kids Used to Sing" are two of my favorites, since I've only ever heard them here and they're great songs. The medley the four of them do for the final number is great also, with each of the boys singing a traditional hymn and wrapping up together with "Silent Night". I listen to it many times each holiday season--my guess is you will, too.

A Statler Christmas- truly home for the holidays!,

This review is from: Christmas Collection: 20th Century Masters (Audio CD)
I originally bought this record, tape, and then CD when it first came out. It's as if the Statlers sing right to me not just because I'm listening, but because I'm family. I love traditional Christmas music, but these renditions stir new memories from old ones that many of us have had. The Statlers have done everything to put "Christ" back in Christmas and allowing us to relive our memories as if they were their's as well!

A great country Christmas album,

Note that this is a straight re-issue of their first Christmas album (Christmas card).
The Statler brothers had two trademarks - great harmonies and great original songs, both of which are in evidence on this, the first and best Christmas album they recorded. Like many others, they decided to include some Christmas classics here. Jingle bells is slowed down, but not too much, and it works brilliantly as a change from the standard speed, but I wouldn't want everybody to do it like this. They also do great versions of other classics, some of which are cleverly strung together in A Christmas medley. The six Statler originals are very much what you would expect from them if you are familiar with their other music - and they are all great songs. I don't know of any covers of these songs, but that's just another reason to buy this CD. This album will appeal particularly to fans of traditional country music, but the Statlers have a very easy on the ears style and should appeal to anybody who likes geat harmony singing.

This has to be the very best if not top 5 Christmas Albums of all time, Ranking right up there with Bing Crosby. Their harmony, and songs bring warmth to the soul.
This album will being back a flood of memories of simpler times, and Christmas past! I would recommend this album to Anybody! 5 stars

Statler Fan since childhood,

I grew up listening to the Statler Brothers. My parents, aunts and uncles, and all my many cousins all were huge fans. Still to this day, the Statlers are our first music choice when we are together - we know every word of every song. And when we are together during the holidays, this is the first album we reach for. It is not Christmas until I've heard "I beleive in Santa's cause" and these four wonderful men singing in harmony to "Silent Night".
These wonderful artists will be so missed in my family and many others - but no one deserves to enjoy their retirement more.

I have had this CD for years and enjoyed it so much that I ordered one for my sister (after she heard mine and really liked it). Mostly original music from the traditional songs that you hear throughout the season so it is a refreshing change from what you hear played over and over again on the radio at Christmas.

I listened to this album as a kid on vinyl and Christmas just wasn't the same without it in my own collection. A cross between gospel and country with great vocals that make you smile or feel teary-eyed all in one album.

One of the best Christmas CDs,
This review is from: Best Of/20th Century - Christmas (MP3 Download)
The Carols Those Kids Used to Sing is one of my favorite songs as it reminds me of when one of my neighbors would put hay in the back of a flat bed truck and drive our MYF Church group (and anyone else that would come) all over town to sing Christmas carols to the older people in our small Adirondack town. We nearly froze in the snow and cold, but always had a good time! The harmony and blending of the 2 versions of Away in a manger is beautiful as well. They are all such good songs, even if you aren't a big country music fan!
