Ladies and gentlemen, this is an event! I wasn't aware of what album I had purchased, because it looks like a compilation, of which there are so many. Bu no, this is the rerelease of Engelbert's "Christmas Tyme" from 1977, for the first time available on CD!

The atmosphere is incredible, arrangements are classy, this is evereything you would expect from Engelbert at the prime of his career. I have already started my celebration for the holidays, and I promise you, listening to this album, you will, too.

I was a little reluctant to purchase as all my CDs of EH are romantic and I was not sure I would like it. I should not have doubted! This Christmas music is done in the same style that is only Engelbert!! LOVE IT!

This is one of my all time favorite Christmas Albums... I have the original 33 and it has been just realesed on CD and so I have that too. The CD sounds great, the music is great, Engelbert is great! Must own for anyone who likes Christmas music!

Frankly I was taken by surprise when I first saw this album was available as a part of the Universal 20th Century Masters collection;pleasant however it was.You see this is a re-release of Humperdinck's 1977 album"Christmas Tyme" on the Epic label.Epic is now owned by Sony Music,so I wondered how does it go from Sony to Universal,who are two separate entities?.Just guessing I would say "Little Humpy"(as he calls himself in concert-don't ask)and/or his management company,still retained the rights to his recording masters at Epic and has shopped them over now to Universal for release.Universal as you know owns his pre-Epic hits from his Decca days("Quando,Quando,Quando,","Release me" and so on)so it seems a natural fit.
Whatever the truth may be,this CD now called "Christmas Collection" is a wonderful release of Christmas selections that certainly deserves a wider audience and still stands up pretty well today.Englebert displays his smooth touch as always in songs like "White Christmas" and "Silver Bells".In fact there are six full version Christmas classics that make up the first selections with the others being Christmas compilations of four or more abbreviated versions of well known songs put together with a light and airy touch,often highlighted by a festive sounding vocal group.
I'm not a great big fan of Englebert but I always enjoyed listening to this album at Christmas time after its initial release,and after listening again to it now on CD I find it has lost little of its' original appeal.It is definitely a worthy release that deserves to be on everyone's play list at Christmas.

I have the original album of this, signed by Engie himself. Needless to say I couldn't listen to it, but the CD is great. Some of my favorite Christmas music sung by my favorite singer. How can you go wrong.

When I was a kid, we used to have the big LP at home! I'm glad that I found it in Amazon and at such a low price!!!

Bought it for a friend who's Mom played it when she was a child. CD played perfectly. Arrived before time.
