4.0 out of 5 stars A Christmas Gift From Ray Conniff
If I added in the nostalgia factor, I'd have to give this five stars. After reading through the other reviews it's obvious that I'm not alone in having grown up in the Sixties listening to this wonderful album and having this music so closely linked to my fondest Christmas memories. And as much as I might hate to admit it, I guess I've turned in to my dad when it comes...

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Sound on 2010 Hallmark edition !!!!!!!!!!!
This is a review just on the 2010 "Hallmark" re-release

I'll be short & not so sweet on this one. DON'T BUY THIS RE-RELEASE !!!!! Buy the ORIGINAL COLUMBIA VERSION !! On this one, the sound is absolutely terrible. I don't even think its in stereo !!!!!

I love all the Ray Conniff Christmas albums (including Christmas with Conniff). Its what I grew...

4.0 out of 5 stars A Christmas Gift From Ray Conniff, November 26, 2000
This review is from: Christmas With Conniff (Audio CD)
If I added in the nostalgia factor, I'd have to give this five stars. After reading through the other reviews it's obvious that I'm not alone in having grown up in the Sixties listening to this wonderful album and having this music so closely linked to my fondest Christmas memories. And as much as I might hate to admit it, I guess I've turned in to my dad when it comes to selecting Christmas music.

Conniff keepts it mostly secular on this 12-track CD. The lone exception is the inclusion of "Grensleeves," also one of the few ballads on this album. For the most part Conniff keeps it cheery and bright with songs like "Here Comes Santa Claus" and "Frosty the Snowman."

If you're looking for an album to lift your spirits, you can't do better than this. [My only complaint is that Conniff released several holiday albums and they all had running times in the neighborhood of thirty minutes--it would have been nice to see them packaged as two-fers.] My suggestion? Buy extra copies for your kids. [My daughter just took a copy back to college with her today.] Enjoy! RECOMMENDED

5.0 out of 5 stars Christmas With Conniff, December 3, 1999
This review is from: Christmas With Conniff (Audio CD)
This wonderful music brings back memories of Christmas in the sixties, my childhood and teen years at home. My broken record player leaves that favorite album of memories sitting. But, to have it on CD, what a treat! I have a friend who used to kid me, calling my Conniff album my "doo-wah" music, because of that repreated refrain in White Christmas! Memories, music and laughter are a just a few of the treasures of Christmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the Best!, December 26, 2004

This review is from: Christmas With Conniff (Audio CD)
I too grew up in the 60s listening to this record, now for about 40 years during the holidays and it is just awesome. If you're not familiar with Conniff, this was released in 1959 and consists of choral music entirely. You really can't beat this record for sitting around the fire on Christmas Day and just having a great time. I can still remember being a young girl and sitting there dreaming of my own romantic Christmas wedding whenever I heard "Christmas Bride." My poor parents had to play this thing until it had a hole in it almost, and when I moved out, I purchased my own copy. It is one of the best and one of the absolute favorites of our household - don't pass this one by!

5.0 out of 5 stars Christmas with Conniff is Timeless!, October 9, 2003
This review is from: Christmas With Conniff (Audio CD)
The music of Ray Conniff at Christmas time ( or anytime) is superb! This has been a part of my Christmas celebration for many, many years. The C.D. version is of high quality with all the original Christmas tunes released in 1959. I especially enjoyed "Sleigh Ride", "Jingle Bells" and "Christmas Bride" All of the Ray Conniff Christmas C.D.'s (Christmas with Conniff, We Wish You a Merry Christmas Albun and the Christmas Album from the mid 1960's) should be in your C.D. collection!

This CD is such a treat! My old vinyl LP (actually, my Dad's) was nealy worn out from decades of play. Columbia sure had the right idea when it reissued this album on CD. Buy it for nostalgic reasons, buy it for the great holiday tunes, but by all means, BUY IT! I've been listening to this album for over 40 Christmases, and it still makes me feel great every time I play it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not A Holiday Without This CD !!!!, December 20, 2001
This review is from: Christmas With Conniff (Audio CD)
Every family has that one holiday album they play each year while making cookies and decorating the tree. This was my family favorite (and our old vinyl copy was nearly see-through we played it so much). The album, originally created for ballroom dancing, is perfect for swank holiday cocktail parties, baking cookies, or festive sing-a-longs. A familiar track listing guarantees that adults and children can sing together. The album also contains the PERFECT song for anybody who was married during the holiday or is planning on it, "Christmas Bride." I've never heard the song anywhere else, and it is the perfect holiday love song in which the chorus is asking Santa for a Christmas bride. While the CD may not be for everyone (of course, I'm a die hard 80's new wave and alternative rock fan and I love this) anybody who loves holiday music or vocal groups should pick this up.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is Christmas for my childhood, and now adulthood, December 31, 2000

This album has excellent stereo sound, nice arrangements, in fact, it could even get you out of holiday depression. I too listened to this album on my parents stereo in the late 60's and now my kids do too. Who could forget "Frosty" with the 'pop' and harp at the end, or "Who put that rock in the snowball" at the end of "Sleigh Ride"? This is a fun album. I've never heard another artist do the song "Christmas Bride" yet, but it's a good one. ENJOY!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Christmas CD!, December 6, 2005

This CD will put you in the holiday mood. I hadn't heard of Ray Conniff until recently when a radio station in Boston was playing Christmas music, and he happened to come on the radio. I liked his renditions of "Jingle Bells" and "Sleigh Ride", and "White Christmas" when I heard it for the first time. I'm only in my mid 20s, and you don't have to be old to enjoy classic Christmas music! I highly recommend this CD to anyone, young or old!

5.0 out of 5 stars At Last - Christmas with Conniff on CD!!, November 23, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Christmas With Conniff (Audio CD)
This has always been one of my favorite Christmas Albums. Unfortunately we never play vinyl. When my husband and I were dating "Christmas Bride" was special to us - we were engaged in February and married in June! I still think "Christmas Bride" may have "moved things" along. Our daughters grew up listening to this album - every selection is wonderful, especially like "Sleigh Ride", but hard to single out just one, except "Christmas Bride". I love Christmas!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The ONLY Christmas album I play every year!, November 26, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Christmas With Conniff (Audio CD)
My parents played this album (a vinyl record then) every Xmas when I was a kid - and I loved it, even though I did not speak any English then! I bought a cassette of it while in college (it was very hard to find in Taiwan!). Then came Amazon.com and I got the CD. I'm expecting a child soon and I think I'll play it every Xmas until she grows up and buys one for her family!
