5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite children's book
If you have ever grappled with explaining an abstract concept to children, like "tradition" "disappointed" or the all-important "sharing," then Amy Rosenthal and Jane Dyer's "cookie books" are for you. 3.0 out of 5 stars Cute book about life lessons...
...but the recipe in the back was seriously lacking. My daughter has been begging to make the cookie recipe at the back of the book for months, so we made them today. Very bland, with no taste. Cute book though. I guess that's all that matters, since you wouldn't buy the book for the recipe.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite children's book, November 18, 2008

If you have ever grappled with explaining an abstract concept to children, like "tradition" "disappointed" or the all-important "sharing," then Amy Rosenthal and Jane Dyer's "cookie books" are for you. Through the simple analogies of baking and eating cookies (something many children can relate to), Rosenthal explains those sometimes difficult-to-understand ideas/values like gratitude, appreciative, gracious, and many more. Jane Dyer's soft, expressive child/animal illustrations complement and illustrate the concepts. The "Christmas Cookies" book includes holiday-related words like joy, believe, celebrate and peace. Both of these titles are excellent choices for a child 3-6 years of age. I have donated both to my local public library and have given many children the books as gifts. I hope Amy Rosenthal and Jane Dyer are baking more cookie books for the future!

5.0 out of 5 stars UNIQUE!, November 18, 2008

As a mother of 5 and grandmother of one, I have read and enjoyed volumes of children's books. Amy Krouse Rosenthal's books have an ingenious and significant way of teaching children essential character traits. She skillfully, yet simply, represents these concepts of the heart by relating them to every child's clear understanding and love of cookies.
I applaud the author and illustrator! I wholeheartedly recommend these
2 books. EVERY child should own them! I hope Amy has more in the works!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for Rosenthal fans!, November 17, 2008
This review is from: Christmas Cookies: Bite-Size Holiday Lessons (Hardcover)
If you liked "Cookies: Bite-Size Life Lessons" then you will love this one! Not your "traditional" holiday book, this is a great way for parents to help their little ones understand many "not so obvious" behavioral issues. This takes ideas that are often hard for little ones to grasp and puts it in a language they can understand. Trust me, this would be a perfect gift for any parent!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for Advent Season, January 27, 2011

This review is from: Christmas Cookies: Bite-Size Holiday Lessons (Hardcover)
My pastor suggested a number of children's books to have for Advent season, as a means to not only enjoy wonderful books with our little ones, but offering appropriate opportunities to discuss Christmas on a child level at evening devotions. This was my favorite book from the list I think. I loved it so much, I bought two of the companion books by Amy Krouse Rosenthal after the first of the year. I additionally recommend the Cookies book that is about Love. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming, July 2, 2010

Terrific illustrations are what make a great children's book, but in this case the message is as charming as the illustrations. To make it even better ... the Christmas holiday theme, which is a year-round pleaser.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book for Learning the Best, January 2, 2010
This review is from: Christmas Cookies: Bite-Size Holiday Lessons (Hardcover)
I work in a library and saw this book on a cart. I picked it up and read it and was enchanted with how an author could make so many adult concepts explained to children in a way that children could understand. This book makes me wish I had children to sit down and cuddle with to read this book to every Christmas. A gift to be wished for from me would be to see a child understand each concept as the Christmases go by.

This book is going on my Christmas list to buy for my friends with children.

This review is from: Christmas Cookies: Bite-Size Holiday Lessons (Hardcover)
This book is fabulous for both the young and old. It is a wonderful description of the true meaning of the holidays. It is one of my five year old twins new favorite books. They want to read it every night. I highly recommend this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's ok..., October 21, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Christmas Cookies: Bite-Size Holiday Lessons (Hardcover)
I was so excited when this book arrived. Let me first say, the illustrations are very cute and sweet. But as my husband and I read the book, our little one had no interest past the pictures. It's not little stories or thoughts of Christmas, it's like a very nice dictionary of good behavior. An example is that "Responsibility means putting away the cookie cutters...." not really what we were looking for. It does end with a nice message about peace and not wanting other's cookies. If I had it to do again, I wouldn't but it. Try "Snowmen at Night", or "A wish to be a Christmas tree"
