Book Description

October 9, 2007 9 and up4 and up

Two wonderful holiday stories that evoke the true meaning of the season.

A Christmas Dream, and How it Came True

Ten-year-old Effie lives the life most children dream of—with every day filled with delicious treats and wonderful toys. One night she experiences a dream that will forever change the meaning of Christmas for her. In it, she meets a group of under privileged children and she is inspired to create a Christmas they will never forget.

Rosa's Tale

It is said that every Christmas Eve, for one hour's time beginning at the magical hour of midnight, animals are given the gift of speech. Imagining all that her equine friend, Rosa, might have to say, young Belinda is shocked to hear the sad story of Rosa's life and her fears of what the future might hold.

2.0 out of 5 stars THREE SHORT STORIES Audio 1 cd, December 16, 2008
This review is from: A Christmas Dream CD (Audio CD)
I purchased this with 9 other Christmas Audio stories hoping to listen to them all before Christmas to get into the festive mood.

Of the 10 Christmas Audios only 5 were good to great. This audio is not in that group.

There are three stories on this CD.

A CHRISTMAS DREAM very average story. The author didn't make the characters seem real enough.

HOW IT CAME TRUE by the end of this story I nearly threw the cd out thinking the amount of money I paid for it was so overpriced even if it was free I wouldn't have wanted it if I knew what I knew now.

ROSA'S TALE NOW That was an interesting short tale of a horse being able to talk for one hour only at midnight on Christmas Eve. Rosa the horse told of the cruelty of some of its past owners and whatit had to endure. This story was very moving, just wish that this story could have been a complete book not just a very short tale.

So over all this audio is not worth purchasing. Little Women now that is worth every cent and listening to and relistening to.

The narrator of this audio Lauren Ambrose did a brilliant job narrating this story.
