5.0 out of 5 stars Review by Janice, who is human
Read while eating cookies and drinking milk. Laughed so hard, milk came out of nose. Warning: Do not read while drinking ANYTHING!

Trixie mercilessly funny. She reminds us that Christmas not about getting, is about giving and peace on earth for all men, and dogs. Cats, too, if possess generous spirit. :o)

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute, but not a lot of substance
This is a Christmas book written by editor Dean Koontz' dog Trixie. Cute, is about the best word to use here with this book. It's a children's book focusing on how a dog perceives Christmas. Some of it's funny, and being a dog lover I could relate. But really, there is not a lot of substance to this book. Koontz has done much better children's books.

Photography by Monique Stauder was excellent. No photos of Trixie with fake reindeer antlers. Preserves dignity of Trixie.
Illustrations by Janet Cleland also wonderful. Will make you full of Christmas cheer. Editing by Dean Koontz, Trixie's dad, fabulous as always.

For big belly laughs, pick up copies as stocking stuffers for children, and pets. You'll have to read it to your pooch.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Joyful Gift for a "Golden Season", November 27, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
While exploring the many Christmas offerings displayed in the bookstore today, I found the newest book by Trixie. A grand surprise, that! Forgotten were the other books with covers of different dogs and cats. Here was a little treasure penned by a Golden Retriever, and my favorite furry author! I thought at once it would make a fantastic Christmas gift, and bought it for myself. While waiting for my husband who was sampling a CD in the music section, I pulled Trixie's book out of the bag and began reading. Delightful! Worth every smile, chuckle, and sigh of "Aw..." And, Trixie is so smart and sweet looking, I wonder how many times the photographer had to stop just to give her hugs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now Hold On Just a Minute!, January 27, 2006
All your other reviewers are feeding the folks a lot of Malarky (PC word for BS). I am 75 years young and a retired engineer. My son is in his late 40's. My daughter, who gave me this book is 50. We all think this is about the greatest book ever written. It is definitely not "just for children". Not any more than, say, Alice in Wonderland, or Gullivers Travels, or Treasure Island, or Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, or The Wizard of Oz are "just for children". This is one of those wonderful works that appeals to people of all ages and all times. It will be as appealing 50 years from now as today, and not just at Christmas time. You will be proud to own a first edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Trixie Koontz who is Dog is Excellent Fun!, April 11, 2006
This book is a delightful addition to the shelf of any book lover who is also a dog lover! The premise of the book is that the author is a golden retriever named Trixie, who belongs to bestselling author Dean Koontz. Trixie writes with a distinctive voice that immediately welcomes the reader into her world. She is clever, down-right funny at times, and sweet: everything a good golden retriever dog should be. She is also motivated by her tummy-- and the lengths she goes to for treats will have anyone who lives with dogs laughing out loud. Trixie's point of view about Christmas is heartwarming without being too sweet, but the absurdities of family gatherings and holiday traditions are not lost on the old girl! Trixie's commentaries about presents and her Christmas Wish List are worth the price of the book, but there is much more to be enjoyed in this little volume. My family and I, human and canines, had a ball reading this book aloud on Christmas Eve-- it will be a part of our family tradition from now on. 5 stars-- buy it today!

5.0 out of 5 stars A hilarious dog's-eye view of Christmas, December 4, 2009

This review is from: Christmas Is Good: Trixie's Guide to a Happy Holiday (Hardcover)
What fun! Trixie Koontz really knows what Christmas is all about: "Is not about gifts. Is about Jesus, love, hope and dog treats." One of her tips for enjoying Christmas: "Do not tie cat to tree for decoration. Is funny, but not worth losing your nose." Her holiday wish list includes lots of sausages, plus peanut butter, meatballs, tennis balls, and a DVD of "America's Funniest Stupid-Cat Videos." This wise golden retriever has given us humans an inspiring little book full of Christmas cheer that can be enjoyed by both children and adults every Christmas season.

5.0 out of 5 stars Trixie Doesn't Disappoint, January 9, 2007

For those who may have read "Life is Good! Lessons in Joyful Living" also by Trixie Koontz (Dean Koontz), this book is similar, however centering on Christmas and Trixie's views on all things related. While Trixie centers on the things she loves (particularly sausages)--with fun illustrations, she also writes about the true meaning of Christmas from her perspective. Proceeds from this book go to Canine Companions for Independence; so aside from enjoying a delightful read, buyers are also helping a good cause.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Christmas treat, January 9, 2007
By

As the mom of two Golden Retrievers I am biased in favor of Trixie. I received this book as a gift at the same time that I found that my cat of 13 years had terminal cancer. The warm, sweet tone of this book was a great comfort to me; I kept it at my desk and read it when I needed a distraction. I also gave five copies of this book as Christmas gifts, with great feedback.

This book is about Christmas, and does have some Christian overtones, such as a couple of specific mentions of Jesus, which might make it inappropriate for some. With that single caveat, very highly recommended.

This book was done so cute. I bought it for a friend to cheer her up. I love the way it is written in the dog Trixie's voice. It made both me and my son laugh.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christmas is good, November 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Christmas Is Good: Trixie's Guide to a Happy Holiday (Hardcover)
Not only a child book but one for just every age. Christmas from a dogs point of view by an excellent writer, whoms dog it actually has been until its (hers?) still too early passing. Once you read it, you may second guess your own pets ideas about certain situations. It is a great book; I purchased it for my Grandson but enjoyed it as long as it remained unpacked to be given to him.
