I recently ordered the Hallmark reissue of "Christmas Hymns and Carols," but immediately returned it to Amazon when I discovered that the mastering was faulty. Around 1:18 or 1:20 of the fourth track, the music skipped a few seconds. It's definitely a problem with Hallmark's mastering, not merely a physical glitch with my particular disc. I listened no further, deciding then and there to return the CD to Amazon, so there may be further mastering errors on the disc that I didn't get to. Don't the Hallmark people listen to their own mastering before manufacturing the discs?

This album was a family favorite when I was growing up -- we wore out a couple of LP copies -- but please try one of the earlier CD reissues, which are readily available from Amazon or its marketplace sellers. I have the one on RCA Camden Classics, and there are also editions on Delta and Collectables, the latter as part of a two-fer with Lanza's "You Do Something to Me."

This album we own on record but the CD quality is superb. My brother is a bigger fan of Lanza than I am, but this album is great. Though Lanza passed away at 38, his short career was successful and memorable. This album sums it all up together. RIP Mario!

This album has been part of my family's Christmas celebration for as long as I can remember. Mario brings power and joy to every song and makes everyone want to sing along, singers and non-singers alike. A must for us at Christmas.
