Exquisite Christmas music on the Middle Eastern tradition.,
By Ana (Panama City, Panama) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Christmas Hymns [IMPORT] (Audio CD)
Fairuz is THE living Lebanese diva; all her albums are just and simply GREAT! She has a blessed voice, and Christmas hymns sung by her take a whole other dimension. Never better said, music is an universal language, and even if you don't speak Arabic, you'll be moved by Fairuz'music, because it is understood with the heart. On this particular album, the quality of the recording is a little bit graspy, but I guess it adds to the traditional feeling of the music. This album is a great way to find more about the religious musical tradition of the region where Christianity was born. Close your eyes, listen, and enjoy Fairuz'superb perfomance!

Eid al Milad Sa'id!,

Wow, this one's pretty cool. The recording quality kind of ...., but I would still buy it. She sings Silent Night (Sawt al Eid) Jingle Bells (Laylet Eid) and Angels We Have Heard on High in Arabic as well as some more traditional Eastern songs like Ya Um Allah. The arrangements are thanks to the ingenious engineering of Fairouz's brothers-in-law (Elias and Mansur Rahbani.)

Excellent Christmas album! A must buy for ANY serious Christmas music collector. The songs on the album are both religious and fantasy (Santa) sung in Arabic by Fairuz.
