Be honest: how much fun do you really expect to wring out of the holidays this year? With endless presents to buy and decorations to put up, there can be precious little time to get down. That's where Christmas Is 4 Ever comes in handy. If you can find room in your busy schedule to gather a few close friends for mingling and merrymaking, this disc is probably the most cost-effective alternative to a DJ around. Nearly everyone who's anyone has covered a Christmas song or two in their career, but Bootsy Collins is one of the few to truly make the arrangements his own (even going so far as to rename holiday standards in a funky style). Here, he combines his outrageous style with a touch of hip-hop, plenty of shout-outs, and well-wishing phone messages featuring friends from Buckethead to (the late) Roger Troutman (of Zapp fame) to George Clinton himself. In fact, Collins, who may best be known to some for his work with Clinton and James Brown, isn't shy about inviting friends to the party, including Snoop Dogg on "Happy Holidaze," Charlie Daniels on "Sleigh Ride," and Candis Cheatham turning in lead vocals on "Santa's Coming" (a.k.a. "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), the track that arguably does the best job intertwining danceability--and a little humor--with traditional Christmas cheer. Longtime fans will be pleased by contributions from Funkadelic alums, including Blackbyrd McKnight, Bernie Worrell, and Bootsy's brother, Catfish. Novices, meanwhile, may find this album a gateway to non-seasonal '70s classics. This may be his best album ever! I'm not a real fan of Christmas Music and although I have several 70's Bootsy albums; I expected one or two good songs at best. But every song on this album is ultra-funky. He opens the album by saying that there may be one or two surprises and it takes off --space bass--to the moon.
He even put a Christmas version of I'd Rather Be With You. If you like the Bootsy from Back in the Day and can handle the funk--you won't be disappointed!

Get a jump on your holiday music and pick up Christmas Is 4 Ever by Bootsy Collins. This is the kind of CD you can put on and vibe to while you are cooking Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. As always, Bootsy keeps it funky. It really is one of the most upbeat and energetic Christmas albums that I can recall being released in the past few years. It's quickly become my favorite Christmas CD. Bootsy puts his funky spin on the classics and he even brought along a few of his famous friends. Snoop Dogg is the featured rapper on the song "Happy Holidaze." "Be With You," is another funky new Christmas classic from Bootsy and friends. Zapp Troutman brings the talkbox flavor to this song.

Bootsy brings his funk WMD in a huge way here. Guest appearances by Snoop Dog and Bobby Womack add to the spice and fire of this sassy and sexy pleasure cruise. It is on the top of my play list 4 ever!

Awesome
It took less than a week to get this cd and was in perfect condition. Also this was the most awesome, ghetto Christmas cd ever. I loved it.

Do they know it's Christmas?
Bootsy can still do it. Bringing together old and new in a refreshing holiday album. I liked it quite a bit. Only 3 stars because I miss more of the old sound.

GREAT CD!

Not just for Christmas anymore
This whole album is in my shuffle, it's not just for Christmas. Awesome album. I listen to mostly hard rock and heavy metal, yet Bootsy's holiday jams are in heavy rotation.
