What happens to a great loving marriage when memory has been stolen in combat? Grace has been waiting for over a year to hear information about her MIA husband who was captured in combat in Afghanistan. She has moved into the apartment left to them by her husband's late grandmother. She 's also made quit a go of the bakery below the apartment. She and their seventeen month son have found a loving community in Christmas, Colorado.

Grace's joy is almost complete when her husband escapes and is returned home, but a hit on the head has caused, Jack to loose all memory of Grace and their marriage. Further complications come from, Maria, an embedded journalist who escaped with Jack and had become his girlfriend during this time .Grace and Jack want to find their love and life again but it may definitely take some work with all the present and past complications in their lives.

This is a beautiful story that kept me enthralled from page one . The characters and situations are so realistic that it reads like a true story being told to you by a dear friend. This is the second book about the small town of a Christmas, Colorado, but it can definitely be read as a stand alone book. Though I enjoyed it so much that I want to go back and read the story of another of the town couples told in book one--THE TROUBLE WITH CHRISTMAS. Light read with a very serious theme that was dealt with wonderfully.

The book starts off really good and stays that way till the end I don't think there is a dull moment in this book, it keeps you wanting more. Right as I thought the book was ending the author would through another curve ball. Over all the story line was well written and very cute. She does a tribute to out men and women who serve and as an American who comes from a military family that means a lot to me. I think that only thing that is different about this book is it seemed like after one crisis was down another happened but if you think about that's how life works its not all fairy tales and everything is perfect, but for some readers you are so use to having everything be so "put together" in a book and in this case I love how the author did not do that, so over all the book was amazing and I cannot wait to read more from this author.

I got a free copy of this book from Netgalley for my honest option.

Grace has been waiting to find whether her husband, Jack, is alive. He was declared MIA and for nearly a year and a half she has been waiting. He barely knew his young son when he left for another tour of duty.

In fact the entire town of Christmas Colorado has been waiting. Jack grew up in Christmas and he was the town wild child for his entire life. But, in the military he is a success. He received the Medal of Honor and he has become an All - American hero.

When Jack left the last time, the marriage was in a bad way. Both Grace and Jack said things to one another that they did not mean, but those words are what have been hanging in the air. At least they hang in the air for Grace. Not for Jack, because when he is found and on the way back to the States, he does not remember his wife, his son or his marriage.

This is a well plotted story. This is a romance but it is about other things too. The reader sees the difficulty in military marriages when there are long periods of separation. The reader also sees the strength of friendship. And there is the big part of the story about the past being a burden when it is kept locked up inside.

Both Grace and Jack carry past hurts within. And neither of them have ever talked about what their childhood pain did to them.

But, there are also other things going on with secondary characters. Maria is the beautiful woman who wants Jack and will do anything to get him. Sawyer, who has been Jack’s friend since childhood and now wants Jack’s wife. Jill is Jack’s sister and she has decided that Grace no longer deserves her brother.

This is a small town, where everyone knows everyone. And it is also where the history is replayed whether it is appropriate or not.

Grace Flaherty has lived through one of the worst ordeals a military wife can face…her husband has been declared MIA. She has waited over 18 months to get some word about him. But finally the time comes when she has to move forward with her life. She bakes a cake, in which she has hidden a sugar plum. And inside the plum she has placed Jack’s wedding ring. It was the final good-by to the man she loved. Grace owns The Sugar Plum Bakery and her cakes are known to bring a bit of magic to whoever finds the plum baked inside the cake. This time however, Grace hides the sugar plum so no one else will find it. Just as Jack’s sister Jill finds the sugar plum, the news arrives that the survivors of the downed helicopter have been found. Jill can’t believe Grace would so easily give up on Jack.
Unfortunately, long months in captivity and severe beatings have left Jack with amnesia, so when he reaches his home town of Christmas, it is to a wife and his son he can’t remember. Christmas does not hold fond memories for Jack. He couldn’t wait to leave the little town when he joined the military and to find that his wife and son are settled and happy in the town he despises, does not please him. Even worse is to find that Grace has taken over the bakery his Grandmother once ran. And if that isn’t enough, while being held captive, Jack became close with Maria, a news reporter who had also been captured. Maria and Grace couldn’t be more different. While Grace is all poise and control, Marie is action and adventure. Now Maria has her eyes set on Jack.
Jack and Grace have a lot to deal with if they are ever going to make their marriage work. Not only do they have to deal with Jack’s memory loss, but Maria as well. And Grace has a few things of her own that the couple must come to terms with.
