Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

PreSchool-Grade 1–An easy-reading, rhyming text highlights cheerful holiday scenes on sturdy, heavy-stock pages. A child enjoys street carolers and is anxious for Christmas to come, imagining the pleasures of the celebration at home with her family. The somewhat dark palette provides a foil for small cutout holes on every page through which twinkling lights can shine when a button is pressed. Battery replacement instructions are included on the back cover. A special treat for a preschool storytime.–Lisa Falk, Los Angeles Public Library

I came across this book by accident.

First I was not interested because the illustrastion is not the usual bright and cheerful color job you find in most children's books.

But I read the pages ( only a hand full ) and fall in love.

Frankly, the story may or may not hold your child's attention, depending on age. Each page only has a two or perhaps a three line sentence on it.

A family goes for a walk and sees some carrolers and the next page shows them in their house and sitting down with grandparents for Christmas dinner. Then a child's room with the child reading at the window waiting for Santa, next page Santa with his helpers looking over the list and the last page has the family around the Christmas tree.

The colors in this book are so warm and comfortable. Makes you think of of an old fashion Christmas. The Tree is the main focal point at the end of the book.

The lights sparkle and blink on each page. The lay out is so smartly done that when the blinking comes to an end the lights blink individually till they come to a stop on an ornament, or red for Rudolph/s red nose or a candle or something.

This book is really beautiful.

Smart layout and not an overwhelming story. Cute message and you will find yourself just watching the lights with your child and perhaps adding on to the story with your own thoughts.

Really sweet book with an amazing display of lights and NO NOISES ;-)

Just a relaxing atmosphere and your child enjoying to sit on your lap and pressing the button over and over again. There are really a lot of lights on each page. They didn't just put one or two up there.

Really well done.

I am ordering another one for my older daughter.

she really likes it as well.

Enjoy

Bought 3 of these for gifts and the moms all reported back that the kids love this book. Book is cut out so lights shine through on every page.
