This book will take you back to the true meaning of Christmas and help to keep the craziness of the Christmas season from overwhelming us and drowning out that still small voice of God in our hearts. Short chapters make this book easy to read a bit at a time as we enjoy the days and weeks leading up to the annual celebration of the birth of our savior. The artwork, which Joni has done, by painting and drawing with her mouth, is inspirational in itself. A great gift for those you love and want to share the many joys of Christmas with.

Joni Eareckson Tada is, of course, a best-selling Christian author (e.g., Joni: An Unforgettable Story,A Place of Healing: Wrestling with the Mysteries of Suffering, Pain, and God's Sovereignty, etc.) and accomplished artist.

This 1990 book includes her words, as well as being the first collection of some of her favorite Christmas paintings.

The "Christmas longing" she refers to is that nostalgia she recognizes and remembers from childhood.

For those who are lonely during this season, she suggests that there's simply no reason to stay outside in the lonely wind, stubbornly waiting for someone else to "make our Christmas special"---WE need to reach out and take the initiative.

This is a fine addition to the list of non-fiction books for Christians about Christmas.

This is a wonderful book to read during the Christmas season. Joni Eareckson Tada writes about the joy and anticipation of Christmas, and she reminds the reader that the God who came will come again! Joni’s words and beautiful artwork will draw you in, help you to see the wonder of Christmas, and encourage you look with anticipation to the future return of Jesus Christ. A friend and I read this book together this Christmas season, and it was a blessing to both of us. We will be reading this book again next December!

The purchase of these Joni books is to fulfill the longings of two very special Seniors, who at 85 & 90 respectively, agree Joni EarecksonTada has a lot to show even them, on living and trusting in God. My Parents loved all the purchases so far and have many more to read. Thanks

Joni has captured that 'Christmas longing' everyone feels - and she explains it to us with GORGEOUS pictures she draws, and lovely poetic lines. This is one of my favorite all time Christmas books to give as a gift.

I've had an earlier edition of this book for years which I've read each Christmas. It never fails to touch my heart and make Christmas even more meaningful. I sent this one to a granddaughter.

I use it as a coffee table book and make sure it is out every Christmas - I love her paintings and how she gets her thoughts across with so much love and insight as to her trust and faith in God and how he has blessed her life
