This book will take you back to the true meaning of Christmas and help to keep the craziness of the Christmas season from overwhelming us and drowning out that still small voice of God in our hearts. Short chapters make this book easy to read a bit at a time as we enjoy the days and weeks leading up to the annual celebration of the birth of our savior. The artwork, which Joni has done, by painting and drawing with her mouth, is inspirational in itself. A great gift for those you love and want to share the many joys of Christmas with.

Joni Eareckson Tada is, of course, a best-selling Christian author (e.g., Joni: An Unforgettable Story, A Place of Healing: Wrestling with the Mysteries of Suffering, Pain, and God's Sovereignty, etc.) and accomplished artist.

This 1990 book includes her words, as well as being the first collection of some of her favorite Christmas paintings.

The "Christmas longing" she refers to is that nostalgia she recognizes and remembers from childhood.

For those who are lonely during this season, she suggests that there's simply no reason to stay outside in the lonely wind, stubbornly waiting for someone else to "make our Christmas special"---WE need to reach out and take the initiative.

This is a fine addition to the list of non-fiction books for Christians about Christmas.

Joni has captured that 'Christmas longing' everyone feels - and she explains it to us with GORGEOUS pictures she draws, and lovely poetic lines. This is one of my favorite all time Christmas books to give as a gift.
