5.0 out of 5 stars entertaining police procedural romance

3.0 out of 5 stars Damp Squib
A decent Christmas read but overall it didn't work well enough for me to give it 4 stars. Often in a Blaze the sex overwhelms the plot, but here just the reverse happens. If the mystery was more interesting that might still work, but I found it rather dull. It was written in a plodding police procedural manner (now let's go interview witness X) that squashed any...

5.0 out of 5 stars entertaining police procedural romance, December 4, 2009
This review is from: Christmas Male (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
Legend has it that the famous Rubinov Diamond causes incredible desire between people. At the National Gallery, Police Lieutenant Fiona Gallagher scoffs at the myth as a romantic hooey. However, she looks across a crowded room just before Christmas and her eyes meets that of a stranger; they connect.

Army Captain D.C. Campbell runs police security at Fort McNair. He finds himself unable to stop staring at Fiona. When the diamond is stolen, the military police officer and the civilian cop team up to try to recover the purloined gem.

With the National gallery and the rest of DC as a backdrop, they were "Strangers in the Night exchanging glances", but instead of dancing the night away, they team up to chase a thief and fall in love. Fans will enjoy this entertaining police procedural romance as the legendary Rubinov Diamond works its magic on two cops in time for Christmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Part of a Series by Cara Summers, December 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Christmas Male (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
I bought this one because "D.C." is a secondary character in other Cara Summers novels. I ended up either buying all the titles by Cara Summers, or downloading those I couldn't find in hard copy. I often tell students, "Find a series of books to read, so you can come to know/love all the characters the author introduces you to." Cara Summers doesn't disappoint; there are separate stories about each secondary character in her novels. Each story is a little different, someonewhat similar (romance/smut), and yet still entertaining. As long as it entertains you, the author has done his/her job - and you walk away satisfied. Enjoy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Damp Squib, January 12, 2010
This review is from: Christmas Male (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
A decent Christmas read but overall it didn't work well enough for me to give it 4 stars. Often in a Blaze the sex overwhelms the plot, but here just the reverse happens. If the mystery was more interesting that might still work, but I found it rather dull. It was written in a plodding police procedural manner (now let's go interview witness X) that squashed any excitement right out of it. And as for the sex, there were only 2 sex scenes in the entire book. Not what I expect from a Blaze. There were some nice kissing scenes, several in fact and hot. But it started to feel like the author tossed one in whenever the plot got bogged down. Overall this was more of a damp squib than a Blaze.
