Audra McDonald sounds fantastic... I'm an instant fan!
Everything looks and sounds as perfect as you could imagine!

Buy this DVD for the Infant Holy, Infant Lowly performance!!! A performace beyond this life for sure...

The transition from Infant Holy, Infant Lowly to Peter Graves reading of Luke Ch. 2 sends a shiver to my soul.

Otherwise, great performaces of traditional Christmas songs. Only wish they had male performer to accompany Audra McDonald.

This concert DVD is outstanding. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is wonderful and Audra McDonald is a revelation. I show this concert to friends and neighbors every Christmas. Without exception, they love the concert and are awed by Audra McDonald's talent. Buy this DVD. It will be a favorite for years to come. It's that good.

I've had this DVD for several years now and I always make sure I play it several times each Christmas. It is a visual and acoustical treat that is unsurpassed by no performance of this type that I am aware of! I am blown away by the incredible talent of the M.T. choir and orchestra. I was especially moved by the rich and dynamically powerful processional "Carol to the King". I thought I saw everything until they lit all those trees at the end. Unbelievable! On the opposite side of the spectrum was the warm and sensitive singing of "Away in the Manger". It was enough to give me goose bumps. The expressions on the choir members faces shows that they really care and put great feeling into their singing.
I never heard of Betelehemu before, but I know I'll never forget it. This piece displays very vividly the talents and diversity of the M.T. Choir. Superb! Peter Graves telling of "In Search of the King" was exceptionally well done especially with the music from "Ben Hur" as an accompaniment.

Why did I give it only 4 stars? I thought Audra McDonald was an incredible talent and has an incredible voice and I enjoyed her singing...up to a point. I just thought there was too much of her. She dominated what seemed like almost a third of the entire DVD. Every time she went off stage she would come back. It was like there was no end to it. Maybe the title of the DVD should be "Christmas with Audra McDonald featuring the Mormon tabernacle Choir & Orchestra. Even the cover picture puts everyone else in the background. When she stated that she needed help from the audience to help her sing because she is "a little lazy", it seemed to me like a rather stupid statement to make and I consider it a little insulting to my intelligence! She seemed somewhat insincere about the whole thing and acted like it was just part of the job she was getting paid to do.

Overall I strongly recommend this DVD. I especially like the ability to skip through some of the parts I don't care for.
