If you like New Orleans blues, this is the Christmas album for you. Johnny Adams, a tremendous vocalist, invests heart and (lots of) soul into these Christmas offerings. He soars to a tightrope-walking falsetto, and swoops down to pleasantly throaty lows. The highlight is "Little Town Of Bethlehem", which is now my favorite version of that song.
Very spiritual, very lovely, with the grit of the blues.
