I am 12 yrs. old and this has been my favorite Christmas book since the first time my mother read it to me. I would reccomend this book to anyone and everyone. Share this delightful story with your kids and watch their faces light up when you read it. They'll bring it out year after year!

I am a second grade teacher and purchased this book to enhance a "Christmas Around the World" lesson based upon Swedish traditions. My kids absolutely loved this story; they were able to make worth-while connections to the traditions discussed and loved hearing about how Swedish children celebrate Christmas differently. I would highly recommend "Christmas in a Noisy Village"; I am so glad that I purchased this story!

My daughter picked this book at the library when she was two, and we had to read it every night for the next six weeks. I did not tire of reading it to her. She will be getting her own copy for Christmas.

A great little book. My grand daughter loved it. An old fashioned Xmas without mountains of presents but lots of atmosphere and fun and appealing little kids.

What I loved most about this book was the old-fashioned illustrations, the old-fashioned feel, and the old-fashioned celebration of Christmas. I adored the fact that the children received sleds and skates and skis for gifts and were outside right away playing with them. I also loved the close relationships everyone shared. The story, however, felt more like a collection of events, only tied together because it was Christmas. Which, is fine, but there really wasn't an overall story. But, I would still recommend this book just to revel in the illustrations and to introduce children to Christmases past.

This book is great, its a nice, colorful picture book to accompany the two chapter books about these children--The Children of Noisy Village, and Happy Times in Noisy Village--and there is another picture book focused on Easter to buy as well. My daughter (age 6) loved the series and was sorry there weren't more stories about Noisy Village. One small note: the chapters are very short and would be fine for children ages 4-8 (there are a lot of pictures), but its clear that in the chapter devoted to Christmas--which is a charming chapter altogether--the children no longer believe in Santa Claus, so some quick editing needs to be done if you are reading out loud to your small ones! The picture book doesn't have this problem.

Something I read as a kid and loved forever. it was great re-reading the story of six little kids growing up in a tiny village in Sweden.

Make this story a part of your holiday tradition. It's a classic children's book. Darling characters engaging in extended family holiday traditions. Good old fashioned values with little to no focus on the gifts. Astrid Lindgren is an award winning author and works like this are the reason.
