This is the third cross-stitch book in the Christmas Remembered series by Leisure Arts that contains those adorable "Snow Babies" patterns. Having lost this book in a flood some years ago, I'm happy that I found it again. The color patterns are expertly done, and there are a variety of Christmas designs and Santas for all skill levels. This book is a real gem for those of us who still make time for the "leisure art" of cross-stitch.
This book has some interesting articles about the history of illustration of Christmas figures. Mostly, though, it is patterns for counted cross stitch and needlepoint. They are not easy patterns, but the results are exceptional. The illustrations are beautiful, as well.
If you are looking for a variety of typical Santa etc. pictures in a muted palette then you will probably like this book. It does contain variety and many different size motifs but there the originality stops. I have seen several of these patterns in other Christmas pattern books with a tweak here and there. Usually I'm excited when I receive a cross-stitch book and like to sit and savor it like a fine brandy. This is more like a quick "Coke." The charts are color and symbol coded with the floss key on the same page but they are often hard to read due to the print size and would have been far better 'split' and printed on two pages. Another thing that I found disappointing was the number of projects in the book. Much of the photogrphy was taken up with old postcards, and dressed settings. Just look at the cover and you'll see what I mean. There could have been much greater and much more original content.
