Collinwood at Christmas,

This is one of a series of stories from Big Finish reuniting David Selby, Lara Parker, John Karlen, and Kathryn Leigh Scott from the original TV series. Each CD is presented as if it were 3 episodes, each with opening and closing music (a new version of Robert Cobert's original theme, of course). Each of the four "season one" discs from 2006-2007 features one story in its entirety.To my knowledge, we never really saw Collinwood at Christmas on the television show. Director Tim Burton, who I understand will be directing the Dark Shadows feature film, often likes to mix Christmas and Halloween in his movies, and that's what you get here. What I was looking for in a review, before I bought this, was whether this was an actual Christmas story or not, and the answer is mostly no...it is largely a typical Dark Shadows story that happens to take place at Christmas time. That will probably disappoint some people and make some people happy. It is a nice (but short) tale, in the vein of the other stories from this "season". |
